its done with a little person (normally with longish legs, the skirt covers the torso) and someone without legs, the trick used to be done exactly like this, but with a saw in the 1920s, a performer called Johnny Eck was normally the top half, his twin brother was used as the hole man after rejoining (he is also seen in the film freaks)
chris angel is cool, but i always wonder how much of the show is done in post production, or with alot of rehersals, though for every talented magician there is a ton of talented trick designers and planners.

In the article it gives another example of this being done elsewhere. It totally freaked me out, but I definetly figured it was two people. The top half reminded me of the woman on the TLC show "The Woman with No legs" Or something like that, after her waist there was like nothing. Anyways... Criss Angel really creeps me out...
