Sadly, I'm related to Colonel Custer on my Mom's Moms side.

To live would be an awfully big adventure.

    Re: Related to anyone famous?

I am related to Brooke Shields, Charlemagne, Hernando Cortez, and perhaps Mahammad himself.

No big deal; I bet half of those reading this are too.

You see; everyone has 4 grandparents; 8 great grandparents; 16 great great grandparents; 32 great great great grandparents; 64 great great great great grandparents; 128 great great great great great grandparents; ...........go back just a few hundred years and you will have had more grandparents than the entire total human population of the world since we started walking errect.

The further back in time you go the more likely you are the direct decendent of someone famous.

Take King Edward III, who ruled England during the 14th century and had nine children who survived to adulthood. Among his documented descendants are presidents (George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Quincy Adams, Zachary Taylor, both Roosevelts), authors (Jane Austen, Lord Byron, Alfred Lord Tennyson, Elizabeth Barrett Browning), generals (Robert E. Lee), scientists (Charles Darwin) and actors (Humphrey Bogart, Audrey Hepburn, Brooke Shields). Some experts estimate that 80 percent of Englandís present population descends from Edward III.

Not to rain on anyones parade.....but most of you are my distant cousins which means I am related to most everyone already mentioned

    Re: Related to anyone famous?

    Bobby Orr,

and My Grandfathers cousin helped build the Titanic in Belfast.

My Grandfathers people were kicked out of Scotland and sent on boats to Ireland

and are related to Rob Roy McGregor. Probably why er were kicked out.

On ther other side My Grandmothers father Known as John (Jack) Brady when in Ireland was known as Oliver Kendall, killed a Britsh soldier or a few in the late 1800's, story is a bit shaky for details, hid on a boat, and landed in Boston, changing his name to Brady then worked his way across the country for the Railroad, ending up in San Fransisco, then Oakland where he did shots with and got into fights with Jack London right up to Jack Londons death in 1916.

Compare with my profile pic.... I think there's a bit of family resemblance there!
I saw where she is buried just up from Jim Morrison in Paris!

I'm related to Jean Lafitte (not sure if that is corect spelling).

He was a dangerous pirate and a special on him on Weird Travels says you can see his eyes flicker in an old home's fireplace.

But if you think about it, all humans are related somehow if you go way way back.

I can say were related to the Disney's - since we all are related somehow.

I say I'm related to Jill Hennessey, because my brother is married to her cousin. My SIL and Jill's fathers were brothers.
I'm related to Peter Allen (his real surname is woolnough)

Jeff there is no way that you and I could be distant cousins. There is no way that I ever could be related to any one who is (O hold on I forgot this not the political debate board) never mind..

I do genealogy and have traced my family back to 1245, I came across a fact that illistrates your point.

25% of the people in the USA can trace there family back to someone who came over on the mayflower, If you can trace your family back to Pre Ellis island in the USA, that number jumpes to 50%

On my mother's side, nobody famous that we know of, but my great-great grandfather was a Swiss watchmaker and for some odd reason, I've always thought that was cool.

My great-great, etc, Grandfather was Daniel's best bud- Nathaniel Auxier. (Also spelled Auxerre). Nat's Creek in Kentucky is named after him. Several of Nat's descendants were named after Daniel in honor of the friendship between the two.

    Re: Related to anyone famous?

I'm not related to anyone famous, that I know of. I always hoped I would become the someone famous the rest of my family would brag about. So far, that isn't working out so good.

    Victoria has some interesting connections:
Her paternal GGGG Grandfather was Cornelius Vanderbilt.
Her maternal GGGG Grandfather was Fred Harvey.

She's also a descendant of "meat packing baron" Michael Cudahy and Issac Emerson who invented Bromo Seltzer.
"Yesterday, a man walked up to me and said, 'Isn't it a shame that Walt Disney couldn't be here to see this?' and I said, "He did see this, that's why it's here."
