I need help with upcomming trip to Vegas.....

I'm heading out to Vegas to visit my best friend; Pinkerbell, on the 18th. The problem is I am on a budget, like 200 dollars. The good news is I wont need a hotel or have to worry about most of my meals. But anything else I want to buy or do,.... well..... you know. So my question to you all( Native Las Vegan's )sp?, is what kinds of things can you reccomend for some one on a budget? Thanks

Well, part of it depends on what you like to do, and how long you're going for.

If you like to gamble, there are penny, nickel and dime slots - you'd be amazed how long your $$$ can last.

There are free shows throughout the strip - like the fountains and conservatory at Bellagio, the lion exhibit at the MGM-Grand, the talking statues at Caesar's Palace, the volcano at the Mirage and the Sirens at TI (replaced the pirate show).

There are art galleries which are moderately priced. You can also view Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, or dolphins at Mirage for a price (around $15, I believe).

If you like roller coasters, there are several of those as well, although I don't think they're a great bargain since you're paying $10-15 for a single ride. It's all about the novelty, there.

Well, there's touring all the big hotels, of course. Plenty to see there.

Some of the less expensive shows in Vegas are really good. Often the Coast or Station casinos have smaller acts that come through and can be seen for under $40. By the way, the Orleans is a Coast Casino, and not far off the strip up Tropicana. Harrahs usually has a comedy or magic act that is also very inexpensive, and they're right on the strip. Check out the fountain show and the atrium at Bellagio. Also, in a store back behind the Atrium is a huge chocolate fountain, kinda cool.

First off...how many days? Are you of gambling age? My husband and I each take 250 dollars for about three days, and that usually takes care of all our gambling/drinking/tipping needs.


So...I think you'll be just fine.



As far as "cheap" eats....there is a wonderful deep dish pizza place inside of NY/NY, which is always good for eating at like 2am.

You can usually see a good show for around $70.00 (that's what we paid for the Blue Man group when they were at the Luxor). And I just love to wander the strip - go in and out of the hotels (like everyone has said). I don't know if it costs anything or not, but you can tour Ethel M's or go to the Liberace Museum for a few dollars. But, take some time to go to M&M world!

Yeah, that's true. I usually start at one end of the strip and just work my way down and back. Gamble a little here, look at flowers there, screw around here....you get the idea.


Also, go line up at the 1/2 price ticket places, you can get quality shows for half off!

If you are a dancer, go to Studio 54. Ladies are free and men have to pay $20 to get in. You would think there would be more women than men but that is not the case. I always have a good time when I go there.

I am of drinking/partying age. I love to get down and boogie. A little more info,..... I will be there for 3 1/2 days and I'm there with 3 other ladies all of us in our early to mid 30's. So we want to see cute, scankly clad, beefed up men!! J/k!! So you get the idea.??

Then go to Studio 54. A- It's free, B- They have scantily clad men dancing up of the bar with not shirt, their pants unbottoned and lowered to the hips showcasing thier G-String! C- They have acrobats, wall walkers, and other performers that come out periodically throughout the night. C- Did I mention FREE!!?

Really, there is sooooo much to do...wandering the strip is the biggest tourist draw, and you could easily do that for 3 days without having to spend a cent. I'm curious, if you aren't going to be staying in a hotel, or paying for meals, I'd assume you are staying w/someone......they might have ideas?

First post here, but Vegas is my other favorite place. First of all join the player clubs in whatever casinos you will be frequenting. When you sign up, most will give you a coupon book good for match play, buy one get one free drinks, two for one buffets or shows and such. This helps to stretch your dollars in the casinos.

There are tons of things to do that cost absolutely nothing like people mentioned. One of the few attractions actually worth paying for is the Secret Garden at the Mirage. Its about $15 but we can spend 3-4 hours easy checking out the animals.

Remember that you drink free when you gamble, but it usually costs more than buying the drink. If you plan on drinking, it may be less expensive to bring your own bottle and mixers for the room to get a head start.

Yeah my best friend, she just moved out there a couple of months ago. She kinda hasn't had a chance to discover Vegas. And she is newly single so were kinds going out there to discover with her.
