Mom's to drink their own breastmilk?

The new security measures state;
"Mothers can bring baby formula on board, but only after drinking it in front of security officials first."
So if a mom pumps milk for the flight, she will have to drink it?
Any thoughts?

My eldest would not latch on, so I tried pumping. Then my boob got stuck in the pump and I had to pry it off. I figured that was a sign and stopped trying!

Re: Mom's to drink their own breastmilk?

I guess it just depends on how much they are going to make you drink. If I ever had to pump and warm it up, I tested it on my wrist and then licked it off - but, if you have to chug it, yuck.

Personally i don't see why you can't take a drink on board if you take a swig of it at security. Anything that can blow up a plan in that small of an amount has to be hazardous to drink.

On the local news (abc) they were interviewing folks at LAX. 3 different mom's stated that they had to sip they milk or throw it away. So I am not sure who is right.

I feel bad for the Europe travelers who can have NO carry on. What a long flight to not have any personal items.

Everyone seems to be ok with the new list of things to not take on the plane. It's a small price for safety. It wouldn't be as bad if you could buy a replacement after the check point but they check you before you broad so that isn't an option.

Ya know I think they ought to hang onto the stuff that people have to toss at the security check. Tehn when people come in from the incoming flights they can pick a few things from the bin. Sure some things you may not want to use like chap stick, but some might be ok, like shaving cream.

Re: Mom's to drink their own breastmilk?

Can't they just give some to the baby??? Have the baby drink some???

Here is another thought. Let's say it's not breastmilk and is some kind of explosive devise. These terrorists were "Suicide" bombers right? What's to say they couldn't drink a little bit of whatever explosive they were using and still survive long enough to get on the plane, mix their ingredients and blow it up?
