Re: The Official 2006 College Football thread

UCLA vs. Arizona this week. Last year the cats killed them. It should be an interesting game. Arizona defensive player Louis Holmes will probably miss the game this week. He sprained his knee. That's going to hurt the defense.
This is a hard game for me. I grew up a UCLA fan and I am currently enrolled at UofA. I have three friends on the team so I have to say.... GO CATS!!!!

It is going to to be a bad weekend for the local LA teams. One is going to get beat by "Dawgs" and the other by "Cats"

Tim - wish I could go along with you about USC losing and all, but I can't.

And how about this...a game between Oregon and Cal, being show to a majority of the country in prime time? Who woulda thought, back in the day...

That should be a good football game, BTW. I like the Ducks...Oregon may be the team to knock off the Trojans down the road.

Midway through 3rd quarter USC 17 UW 13 - only one more TD by UW and USC joins Auburn out of the hunt for the National Championship.

USC escapes by the hair of their collective chinny-chin-chins...the clock runs out, with Washington on the 15....

USC 23, Washington 20...a game that the Huskies quite honestly should have won.

Playing like this, USC will lose at least once, maybe twice, before season's end.

I was not so far off. The Huskies put in a great game at USC's home field and just came up a little short. I am disappointed they did not win, but I will give them credit for putting a scare in them and almost pulling it off.

I'll be curious to find out exactly what happened with the clock at game's end. I'm baffled why Washington wasn't able to get a play off.

Let me lend my voice to those that don't like college football's new timing rules, by the way.

I wish someone would just beat USC. They kinda suck this year.

Okay....NOW what will happen in the polls? USC manages one of the most unconvincing wins in recent history (Good thing Willingham can't manage the clock) BUT Auburn goes down to ARKANSAS, who's butt USC soundly whipped during the first week!

USC is number 2, but seems hardly the team that opened a can of whup --- on Arkansas just a few weeks ago.

The Minnesota Gophers lost in a close OT loss to Penn St. Saturday. The Gophers always start good but never end good. They need to get some more wins or their streak of bowl games will be over. They have a tough schedule to do that, they have to play Iowa and Ohio St.

I thought that the expectations around Heritage Hall these days had been raised to...national championship or disappointing season...kinda like the Yankees...

I was sitting in The Den... and we most certainly did not get beat by the cats. It was exciting the first qrt... but after that... it was uneventful. Those Arizona fans are LOUD though. It was a total turnaround from the people dressed in red sitting in the same seats last week, those Stanford fans weren't too into it. Anyway, with all the trash talking from Arizona fans during the tailgate, it was nice to hand them thier butts on a plate.
