Re: NFL 2006 - The Official Thread

Even though my 49ers lost I did see ALOT of positive things out of them. I'm not stupid enough to say we are a contender, but we played better yesterday than we did in any game last year. That's something IMO.

For the 49'ers to make any improvement, it's a good thing. Can't be worse than last season.

Here's to the start of a good Chargers season tonight, and MNF!

Marty better pull his head out of his *** and stop playing LT into the ground. While I agree with letting Rivers learn and get the flow of a full time regular season game on a Monday night...handing the ball to LT each and every damn play was not good.

What a season opener for the Minnesota Vikings last night beating the Redskins 19-16. Brad Johnson was awsome last night. If he plays like he played last night the Vikings will have a great season this year. I hope they will do well in their home opener against the Carolina Panthers. It will be tough.

Great prediction, my friend...except the Raiders looked so awful, that roadkill should be beneath the ground...

Half of the Charger fans in the bar were screaming at Marty by the end of the third quarter. I was reading the comments in the Chargers forum and all of them were going nuts as well. That Rivers kid can throw! You would think that after the THIRD three and out that they would let the kid throw on first or second down. Antonio Gates, McCardell and Parker were all picking their noses for three quarters. I'm glad they won, but they either don't trust Rivers or they need a new offensive coordinator.

    Or both.

^ And if they don't trust Rivers, then why did they give up Brees. Makes you wonder.

And now the Saints have something going on. Reggie Bush...Drew Brees...Deuce McAllister...They might just make the playoffs this year...

^ I was watching this thing at the Gym today about rookies and it was highlighting Bush, Mario Williams, Vince Young, Vernon Davis and one other guy from Philly.

Honestly, I think there are quite a few exciting players that came out of college this year.

I think they're trying to do what Coaches Cowher and Wisenhunt did with Big Ben two years ago: build a strong running game and put the ball in Rivers' hands when it comes time for 3rd downs and by that time hopefully itll only be a 3rd and 3 or 4 yards to go.

but then again, that was Ben's first year in the league, this is now Rivers' third, so he should know the offense fairly well by now, we'll see how it all pans out i guess.....

btw i think letting Brees walk was STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!! beyond belief. "hey, lets have our star, pro-bowl quarterback who has become the heart and soul of this team and its unquestioned leader just walk away and we get nothing back instead of trading Rivers' and at least getting something in return, maybe something as high as a 2nd round draft pick" (1st round if a team is really desperate *cough Niners *cough Raiders)

i tore my labrum 4 1/2 years ago and im still not fully healed and probably never will be, so yes, there is concern there since Brees had the same injury, but he has proven his work ethic and his desire to become a great quarterback and was determined to come back from the injury, which he has, without even missing a start too!
Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy.

^ Niners don't need a QB. They had the chance to get Leinert or Young and passed. Why would they have gotten Rivers?

But the Raiders ... yeah, they need something.
