Growing up, I was the oldest kid in the family, so I was also the trendsetter when it came to naming relatives.
For instance, I had two uncles named Wil (Wilbert). Since I was "pronunciation challenged", I was told to call one Uncle Wil. Well, it came out "Awoo". LOL. "Awoo" stuck, and up until his death, he was still referred to as Awoo by all of us kids.
My other Uncle Wil's last name was Borba. So, in an attempt to distinguish the two from each other, I called him Uncle Borb. Worked for me! And he liked it too.
Fast forward to today...
My youngest daughter came up with the funniest ones. Occassionally, we would go to the Hometown Buffet at the mall. At times, we would also enjoy a day at the beach in Half Moon Bay. Somehow, she got the two mixed up. Now when we go to the mall, she asks to have dinner at "Half Moon Buffet"!!! LOL
One of her grandfathers lives in a pink house, so naturally, he is called, Papa with the pink house.
She also called the DL Turkey's "Strawberry and Jam". (???)
I'm gonna miss the baby talk...
