    Sandwiches!

I'm slightly sandwich-obsessed right now because last night and this morning, I had corned beef, with kerrigold cheese, mayo, and dijon on sheepherder's bread. OMG, it was sooooooo good!

Some days, there's just nothing like a well-made sandwich.

Usually it's a Club I crave. And I do love my club sandwiches. But I also fancy a chicken salad on squaw when I can get it (and I know just the hole-in-the-wall to get it from!)

Also, Togo's sells on Wednesdays a "Pacific Cobb" sandwich. It's turkey and bacon on Dutch crunch, with bleu cheese dressing as a spread, spring mix (which they don't have right now because of the spinach scare so you get romaine), and avocado. Man, there's just something about bleu cheese and avocado, I'm telling you!

    What are your favorite sandwiches?

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

Turkey and Swiss with Mustard, lettuce, Tomato, S&P, on Dutch Crunch.
Club With Dark Rye Bread, Avocado thinly cut, Bacon(of course) Mayo, mustard
And once in a great while a Honey Bourbon Chicken sandwhich on toasted wheat.
Going to have to try the Bleu cheese. Something new to try.

    Re: Sandwiches!

As a little kid, I would spend my summers with my grandparents in Glendale, AZ. When I was there, we'd sometimes go to Porter's Department Store in Phoenix. They had a lunch counter in the basement. That is where I had my first Club Sandwich...which, to this day, remains my favorite sandwich!

    Favorites:

Corned Beef on Rye. Mustard. Nothing else!
    My
tuna salad or my chicken salad.
BLT...Oh Yeah! (If you get the chance, try the one at "Encounter" at LAX!)
    Chunky peanut butter.
French Dips are to die for!

There was once (and still may be!) an sandwich shop in Del Mar, CA that served a sandwich on sourdough bread with smoked turkey, avocado, cheddar cheese and either lettuce or sprouts... it doesn't really matter... Pure sandwich nirvana in my opinion!

    Re: Sandwiches!

I love sandwiches! But I have issues with sandwich meat (it grosses me out) and sandwich shops like Subway or Togos or Quizno's (all the sandwiches taste the same-not good).

Our family favorite is organic fresh-sliced chicken (from Wild Oats deli) with fresh-sliced salami, provolone cheese, with tomato and red lettuce. On a ciabatta loaf from our neighbhorhood bakery, Baker and Spice.

Our number two favorite sandwich is really close to that, but it's roasted turkey from Wild Oats, fresh-sliced cheddar, same veggies on the daily loaf from our bakery.

We made these sandwiches at least twice a week all spring and summer when we were at softball games and park concerts. They're the only meal the entire family can agree on.

    Tuna, or tuna mayonaise?

I could not eat just plain tuna with food. It has to be tuna mayonaise or even better... tuna garlic mayonaise.
