    don't know what to doooooo

we are here in san francisco until saturday, then we were heading to oregon to spend halloween with a friend.then from there to the nw micechatters meet. I haven't been able to contact my friend that we were to stay with, and I really want my kids to go trick or treating with other kids on halloween, becasue we don't have halloween in Australia.
We are thinking of not going north, but instead heading across the country because we have a wedding to attend in Missouri on Nov 10.
I don't want to miss out on seeing tinkermonkey again!! but if we go across, it gives us more time to get there (i don't know how long it will take to drive from the west coast to Missouri)

    Hey Kathy --

As much as it would stink to not see you, you guys need to do what is best for YOU! Refresh me on your original planned route - is it possible to head east sooner and then cut back to the Northwest on your return?

MSN maps says it is about a 30 - 32 hour drive from Seattle to Springfield, MO (that's where you are going, right?) So, I guess it depends on how much time you want to spend in a car each day or if you want to take it slowly. If you came up to Seattle a day or two early, that would be fine. Caitlyn's school has 1/2 days all next week so we'd be able to see you! I'd say come here and stay, but we don't have an extra room .

Something to consider - if you came through Seattle and then went East, using one of the routes that MSN Maps shows you could route through Idaho Falls and see BFJen in Idaho Falls and then go through Yosemite National Park. It's an option!!

Just keep me posted so I can keep Caitlyn aware of whether or not she'll see Kamika again!!

    Hugs!!

Hi tassie, I say you can trick or treat anywheres just grab a costume, a bag and go! many towns have where they hold public parties for the kids, and so if you are in san fransisco you can do it there. haa safe trip what ever you decide

Kathy - something else to consider on your drive -- I can't recall if Cooper was into Star Wars or not, but in Portland, OR (just south of the Washington border, about 3 hours to Seattle) they have a Science Museum that just opened a new exhibit about the science of star wars. It looks pretty cool!! http://www.omsi.edu/starwars/ for more info.

And I'll have to ditto what Karla said - more and more, people aren't trick or treating in their neighborhoods - they are going to community center events or to local malls for festivities. We go to a friends neighborhood because our own is just too dark and doesn't have sidewalks. The nice thing about the festival type choice is that you don't have to worry about RAIN!!

Tassie: I hope you can come up, but if not it is not the end of the world. Perhaps it would be better to coem to the NOrthwest when the christmas season starts up. It pretty magical up here, especially if we get snow.

Seattle is so beautiful.....you should definitely try to see it on some part of your trip. And Karla is in Montana so if you go that route you might be able to hook up with her for lunch or something!

These gals are right on about kids going trick or treating in public places rather than neighborhoods. Your kids aren't going to miss out no matter what town you're in that night..just head for a local mall!

See how well this could turn out? You could come to Seattle, go through Idaho Falls and Montana and see Karla and Jenn and then off to Missouri!! If you need to miss the actual meet date of the 11/5, thats ok...the exhibit actually opens on 11/4 so we could go that day.
