Cool Looking for some good books..

I've been a reader all my life but in the past 2 years I've majorly slacked on reading books. Sure I kept up with Harry Potter and The Series of Unfortunate Events.. but I'm journeying off in venture of some other books and I'm very open to any kind. So name something recent you've read or something you consider your favorite. I've got Xmas break from college for almost 2 months starting on December 14th, I may as well get alot of reading done!

If you like Harry Potter - try Eragon - and Eldest. I really liked them both! Kind of Harry Potter meets Lord of the Rings.

A Wrinkle in Time and A Wind in the Door are good young adult fictions. The characters were sort of lame, but I liked the stories.

But if your'e looking for more mature reading, Tad Williams' Otherland saga is my personal favorite. It's sort of an epic science fiction set 100 years in the future, a very believable future even though the story gets a bit abstract. It's not for everyone though. It's 4 books long, each about 800 pages, so it will last you awhile. And you have to have a pretty good memory to keep up with all the characters and gradually intertwining sub-plots. But it's totally worth it. I'm actually thiking of reading them all over again after I finish some other ones I been meaning to read.

No, but it does provide an in depth look as to why it had been bad in the past. It gives the reader an idea of where the show could go from here if history repeats itself as it has.

    Both great choices!

Some favorite contemporary fiction authors: T.C. Boyle; Gabriel Garcia Marquez; Salmon Rushdi and Haruki Murakami.

Also, I highly recommend "The Life of Pi" by Yann Martel; "The Inheritance of Loss" by Kirin Desai ("Hullabaloo in the Guava Orchard" is also fantastic); "A River Sutra" or "Raj"by Gita Mehta.

I've been reading historicsl fiction lately - novels by Sharon Kay Pennman. If you like English or Welsh royal history, these are well written historical accounts with fictional embelishments. Along those same lines, Margaret George and Alison Weir are also good writers.
