    Christmas music madness

So the Christmas spirit came early for me this year. But, I abhorred digging out all the same cd's this year to listen to. So what did I do? I went to the local thrift store, and raided the LP's (33 1/3 vinyl records). These records range in age from 1955 to 1980. 25 cents each. I went crazy. Wanna see what I got? Here's the list:

    Ray coniff singers
    that christmas feeling (various artists)
    Christmas america (various artists)
A christmas world featuring the Mormon Youth Symphony and Chorus
Joy to the world (various artists)
    Christmastime with Gene Autry
have a merry little al hirt
The Holly and the Ivy featuring the Mormon Tabernacle Choir
    Henry mancini christmas
    Julei andrews favorite carols
    Perry como sings christas music
white christmas: living strings and living voices
    Jay welch christmas chorale
    Christmas music presented by firestone
town and country sound of christmas
a merry christmas with englebert humperdink
christmas in my hometown with charley pride
    christmas down home country
christmas carols featuring the winston singers
    sleigh ride with ricky tanner
th sounds of christmas (various artists)
for a musical merry christmas (various artists)
Jesse crawford organ and chimes of christmas
Alexander Goodrich plays Christmas organ favorites
    anne murray christmas
    glen campbell christmas
    Philadelphia orchestra christmas

I connect my turntable to my laptop, record them to MP3. Nice to hear something new this year. Am I crazy?

Wow, you got some real gems in there!!!! I'm not a big fan of holiday music (except for John Denver), but those are some amazing finds!!! Nice job!

I'm always leary of buying Christmas music because I never know if the singer/singers/musicians will make an abomination of the song, even when I look at Savers and Salvation Army, I am like "Will I like this record, or will they mess up "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas?"... lol

I'm still holding out hope that someday Josh Groban will make a christmas cd, his two christmas songs are amazing, (one of them, award-winning).

But Delilah (nationaly syndicated radio show at night, love songs and dedications) is already mixing in christmas music in her program.
Press today is so concerned with cool vs. not cool that they're starting to forget good vs. bad. I'm not sure I'll ever be "cool", but I will always tirelessly strive to be "great". - Josh Groban

    Re: Christmas music madness

I remember records. My brother would buy a new one each week. The small records, the one with the hole in the middle. He had a pretty good collection, way back in the 1960's.

Christmas music is probably what I have the most of. Every year I try to buy something new. However, CD's aren't cheap. Tapes don't always last, once they get played too much, they inevitably sound wierd.

I'd say you are very smart. Enjoy your Christmas music.
