So when do you put up your Christmas decorations?

When do you put up your Christmas decorations?

Usually the outside lights go up either the last weekend of November or the first weekend in December, then the inside stuff goes up a week or week-and-a-half after that.

A few blocks down the road, one house had their outside decorations up and lit about a week before Halloween. I wonder if the guy was going for a Nightmare Before Christmas approach? The local Bay department store had their in-store decorations up about a week before Halloween this year.

Haha i saw that bay.. Um we don't really decorate ne more cus we won't be here for most of december so there's no point sigh maybe i will put lights up if the snow goes away

I put up my decorations right after Thanksgiving.

I put mine up right after Thanksgiving too and I take them down right before New Years.

If me and my sisters had our way decorations would have been up two weeks ago!! haha...we looove Christmas...but usually our parents make us wait till about Nov. 25th, a month before...

and then we just leave them up until well into January...

We usually put ours up the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Take them down New Year's Day.

This year we're leaving for Disneyland the day we normally buy our tree, so it's a bit different!

Today my youngest went on a playdate and their house was fully decorated already. What's funny is that it didn't even phase me until I got out to the car and realized it. Later when I picked her up we chatted about it. They do it the day after Halloween every year, because the travel from mid-December to New Years visiting family all over the place and they're never home for Christmas.

I don't...I get enough christmas decor from TV, stores, the neighborhood and DL...

I went to costco a few days ago and they have christmas decor that will light up a house like a vegas casino...I can't wait to see tha crap adorning peoples houses...*sigh*....Dl always looks nice though and I do enjoy their decorations..

Usually put our tree up on Thanksgiving while watching the Macy*s Parade but this year we're going to put everything up the day after Thanksgiving. We then take everything down on "Little Christmas" (Jan 6th)

I'll probably start slowly after Thanksgiving is over. My Nightmare Before Christmas display needs its Christmas time overlay of snow and lights. I also have to start baking soon.

The outside stuff (if we do any this year) will go up the first week of December. Our tree won't go up until the 20th (so says my husband). He feels that we shouldn't be "all Christmased out" for our son's birthday (which is the 19th). I didn't mind this little tradition of his when the boys were younger but they're 6 and almost 5 now. I think this year we should leave it up to my son if he wants the tree up for his Birthday or not.

Usually Thanksgiving weekend for the tree, always purchased at a U-Cut farm, which means it stays fresh and green well into January. A couple of years ago, I kept it up until it started to dry out, just barely... and that was almost Valentine's Day!

This year is Tool and mine's first Christmas together, and his first getting into the spirit of Christmas decorations, so we can't wait! We've been slowly picking up decorations, lights, etc, as we see ones we like.

I also have to start baking soon.

Oh yep, I was thinking about this on the drive in this morning... up until I moved to L.A. this year, most of my friends and family were close enough that I gave them cookies/fudge in person... this year, I'll have to pack them and mail them! I need to be baking soon!

Shoot! My Dad puts the tree and lights up the weekend BEFORE Thanksgiving! We put ours up right after - we figure it takes so long to put it up, we might as well enjoy it for awhile.

And by the way - my birthday is December 1 - and I have always loved all the Christmas stuff around my birthday. Never been an issue for me.
