Re: Tis the season. What's your favorite christmas tunes.

I'm a Christmas/Hannakah music nut! I've got about 1000 holiday songs in my iPod .

Their are so many good (and bad versions) of the classic carols that I tend to favor the modern pop versions.

Christmas Wrapping by the Waiteress is on the top of the list
    Reagae Christmas - Brian Adams
    Another Loneley CHristmas - Prince
Santa Claus is Coming to Town - Bruce Springsteen
Do They Know It's Christmas - Band Aid (1984)
I Tan't Wait Till Quithmuth Day - Mel Blanc
    Blue Christmas - Johnny Cash

I could go on an on (and may post again)

PS, The only version of I'm Getting Nuttin for Christmas that I know is by a young Barry Gordon. I've never heard a Stan Freberg version (I love his and Daws Butlers version of Twas the Night Before Christmas.)

My very favorite is "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas" by Burl Ives.

I love christmas music. I like some of the newer remakes but I love the classics too.

I like any Christmas Carole's sung by Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Burl Ives and Gene Autry. I'm not a fan of newer Christmas tunes.

My number one favorite though is Carole of the Bells

Wheres BDBOPPER? I'm sure he has such a good collection of Christmas songs!

I like any of the up-tempo pop stuff. But I'm also a sap for the traditional songs we sing in church during our caroling before Christmas.

I'm still a sucker for "Do They Know It's Christmas?" by Band-Aid. I still have my 12" vinyl copy.

For me it isn't the holidays until I hear:

    The Carpenters: Merry Christmas Darling
Bing Crosby: I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas
Beach Boys - The whole Christmas Album
The Chipmunks: Christmas Don't Be Late

Some of the song titles may be wrong ...but don't blame me...I'm tired..
Always keep smiling because you never know who is falling in love with it.

Re: Tis the season. What's your favorite christmas tunes.

For me, once I heard Bob River's classic "I Am Santa Claus" album, with such classics as "Walkin' Round in Women's Underwear", "I Came Upon A Roadkill Deer" and "Teddy the Red-Nosed Senator", nothing else has matched up.

Other favorites, for some reason, are "Yellowstone: The Music of Nature" by Mannheim Steamroller, and "Now It Is Christmas Again" by Garrison Keillor and the Lake Wobegon crew. I recommend the latter highly, it'll quickly become a tradition at your house.

I regularly play Bob & Tom's "It's a Wonderful Laugh" CD around this time of year. Between "Hadji's 12 Days of Christmas", "The Living Nativity" and "Let's Not Burn Down the Outhouse This Year".... much holiday entertainment!

Press today is so concerned with cool vs. not cool that they're starting to forget good vs. bad. I'm not sure I'll ever be "cool", but I will always tirelessly strive to be "great". - Josh Groban

I digitized my 12" version... and it's in my iPod.
I picked up about the Official Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer soundtrack

this week along with about 5 other Christmas CD's this week. I usually try to pick up just one or two per year, It's very cool, now if they would only release the other Rankin/Bass Cd's in stereo like this one (PS the version of Holly Jolly Christmas on this CD is the TV version, in stereo, not the more common re-recording you hear on the radio)

    Other tunes I love
    Pretty Paper- Willie Nelson
River Meets the Sea - John Denver & Jerry Nellson (from Emmet Otters Jug band Christmas)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDiXtvuZOfk
Here is a video I put together using the video from the special and the John Denver version of the song.

We Three Kings - Spinal Tap
Put A Little Love in Your Heart - Al Green/Annie Lennox

I'm a sucker for Christmas music too. One of the biggest things I look forward to in the Christmas season is to put on my Christmas tunes.

These are the favorites I can think of now, more will come to me as I listen to my songs more though.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Carol of the Bells
Elmo & Patsy - Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer
Nat King Cole - O Tannenbaum
    Bing Crosby - White Christmas
The Beatles - Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree
Chuck Berry - Run Rudolph Run
    Elvis Presley - Blue Christmas
Eric Cartman - O Holy Night
John Lennon - Happy Christmas (War is Over)
Reba McEntire - Happy Birthday Jesus [this one is a favorite from childhood even if it's not that good of a song...]
The Ramones - Merry Christmas (I Don't Want to Fight Tonight)
