Shaking it Up in Anaheim (Tremors)

    Check this out: http://quake.usgs.gov/recenteqs/Maps/118-34.html

It's the reason I'm online at the moment. I was watching TV about a half hour ago, when a vibration occurred, followed by a fairly strong, yet short shake. Everything rattled quite well, and the blinds swayed slightly for awhile after.

So, I ran in here to check the quake site, and lo and behold, we're having some tremors in the area around Anaheim (we're blocks away from DLR). They're happening about every 5 minutes - mainly quick shakes, but we can certainly feel them because we're practically on top of 'em.

Kinda freaky, really. But, thought I'd share. Gotta love California!

Its a cluster of quakes!! As long as they stay in the range they are in everything should be fine. But it is weird when they are RIGHT underneath you huh.

That's what's freaking us out a little, because I ran in here to see what area had the 6.0+ that we felt. When it said, "2.5 Anaheim", that's not cool.

And..... there just went another one.

We have the cats corralled in the bathroom, just in case. We'll let 'em back out after no activity for a half hour.

I wonder if the sensors on the DLR rides have triggered. It would be interesting to find out.

I'm used to single occasional tremors, but not clusters.

Yep, even the small ones feel freaky when you are right on top of them.

Must be really localized...I haven't felt anything here in the western Ventura County area.

Definitely is. It's all Anaheim area, and not that deep.

I know these are good to release pressure between the plates to prevent a larger quake, but eek!

    goooolllllllyyy!!!
we didn't feel any at all the whole time we were in ca... thank God!!
we lived in the only place in the whole of Australia to have an earthquake. It was 5.5 and 10 people died. I'd hate to experience one again.

I'll be checking up on you guys all day. STAY SAFE!!!

my dog was freaking out bad last night. He was running and barking at things we could not hear. Just out of the blue....and we are far from anaheim, but maybe he was just acting weird for another reason. He's just been sleeping today.

Re: Shaking it Up in Anaheim (Tremors)

I did a few radio interviews with a professor from Cal Berkeley who gave earthquake likelihood forecasts within given "windows" of time...and one of his primary means of research was checking the lost dog and cats reports of newspapers...when he saw a sigfnificant uptick in lost animals...he'd predict earthquake activity of some kind for that given area - and he was amazingly accurate.
