Since Matterhorn is supposed to be the tallest structure in park to make it look big, are Imagineers making the other attractions (Splash and Space) sink too?

You are right in your observation. That is the famous Matterhorn "Barker Bird" installed back in 1959 to attract guests to the Matterhorn. It would speak in Swiss and at the time wore tiny Lederhosen and played an Alpenhorn twice and hour. It was the inspiration for the Tiki Room and since and been undressed and turned off. It remains as a testimony to the innovation of Walt Disney.

When the Matterhorn breaks down, don't you just want to go up to one of the cm's and ask "What's the Matter....horn?"
There was a time when it had sunk so low, you could walk through to Tomorrowland thru the Skyway Holes.
