    Re: Matterhorn Reskinned!

Since Matterhorn is supposed to be the tallest structure in park to make it look big, are Imagineers making the other attractions (Splash and Space) sink too?

Funny you should say that. I have some Spyphotos of BTM being "scaled down". They already removed Cascade Peak, Castle Rock on TSI and other tall icons that would give the sinking secret away.

For those of you who need evidence, notice, in these rare, high resolution photos the stunning difference between the Matterhorn of Yesterdayland and the one that resides today:

    In 1977...

    In 2006...

    I rest my case.
I call fake! If you look really closely, the tree on the bottom right has the same bird in it!

Other than that, looks legit. So maybe I'm wrong?

You are right in your observation. That is the famous Matterhorn "Barker Bird" installed back in 1959 to attract guests to the Matterhorn. It would speak in Swiss and at the time wore tiny Lederhosen and played an Alpenhorn twice and hour. It was the inspiration for the Tiki Room and since and been undressed and turned off. It remains as a testimony to the innovation of Walt Disney.

When the Matterhorn breaks down, don't you just want to go up to one of the cm's and ask "What's the Matter....horn?"

Only if the CM's name is Horn...so how tall did the Matterhorn actually start out at? I heard at like 300 feet.

In laymen's terms, it was really really tall! Check the artist's rendition on page 1 for size.

I just listen to them say "Keep your Hans and Otto inside the car at all times".

There was a time when it had sunk so low, you could walk through to Tomorrowland thru the Skyway Holes.
