Star Wars at OMSI, a Trip Report (photo heavy!)
Nerd Alert! I took 200 photos today when we went to see the Stars Exhibit at OMSI in Portland. Many of the props, models and costumes belong to George Lucas's personal collection and from what I've read, this exhibit is only going to a handful of cities. I believe Portland's visit was the second on the tour.

The first exhibition of its kind, Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination, combines costumes and props from all six Star Wars films with real-world technologies, video interviews with filmmakers, scientists and engineers, and two large Engineering Design Labs, where visitors can build and test speeders and robots. Visitors will explore prototypes, learn about the engineers and designers who are creating new technologies, and discover intriguing similarities between how scientists and filmmakers think.
This is our third visit (my middle daughter's fourth) but the first time I thought to take pictures! The first two visits, photography was out of the question, as the place was packed and we had timed tickets and had to stand in line to walk all the way through.
Also, the first month, parking was terrible and there was a shuttle running to various parking lots on the Eastside of the river. It was a mess. Today was awesome!

These factoids/posters are in the queue. When it was busy, you were in this area forever, but you couldn't see the posters.

Re: Star Wars at OMSI, a Trip Report (photo heavy!)
I downloaded Flock so I could get them up as quick as possible for him.
Did I do that for the Disneyland pics? Nope. But for Shawnakin's SW pics, I did. :geek:
There are more coming.....

I took this inside a movie that shows how robots work. When I took it after the show, a motion-activated robot started moving and I don't think they appreciated it.

Overall, the exhibit was incredible. If it comes to your area, and you're a fan, definitely check it out! We'll probably go one more time (we're members, so we only pay $3/person) next week before it leaves.
My husband really enjoyed it. He picked up all kinds of little factoids (a lot more than me).
There are activities for the kids, a motion simulator ride, a movie, little built-in movies and headphones. Don't go when it's crazy busy, wait a few weeks or a month before you go, the kids will enjoy it more and so will you.
I'm uploading a cute video I took of the girls on their own little hover-craft rides.
All in all, I'm sad to see it leave town! The Star Wars toys and models for sale in the store are incredible, too. Such a large selection! I'm not used to seeing THAT many SW things for sale at once.
