Here's something interesting - we have ALWAYS gone to the PF Chang's in Newport Beach, CA - but we decided to go to another PF Chang's @ Victoria Garden's in Rancho Cucamonga, CA (completely opposite end of the earth, so to speak.) We had horrible horrible service at the Rancho one - and the portions were very small. We've been twice and won't go back. We've been to Newport Beach since, and it's much better service and much better portions.

    Strange how this happens.
DH and I have had similar experiences with Claim Jumpers. We refuse to eat at the one in Brea, although it's within walking distance of us. We'd rather drive to the Industry one.

    1) Alfonso's of La Jolla - really good Mexican food
    2) Roy's - best described as Hawaiin fusion cuisine
    3) Fleming's Steakhouse
    4) Delmonico's Steakhouse - in Las Vegas (it is an Emeril restaurant)

Name the restaurants. There's a lot of restaurants that claim to be authentic but are pretty bad. I hope you're just having bad luck with these places and not saying that every Chinese person has bad taste.

Some dishes at PF Changs are actually REALLY good, i will admit, but a lot of it is really bad. And for the price you pay for the tiny portions, it's really not worth it. And somehow my office always orders from there when we have a meeting or a party.

p.s. DELMONICO IN LAS VEGAS IS THE BEST!!!!!

Has anyone eaten at Jerry's famous deli?

    Or Original Tommy's burgers?

    Either any good?

I hear good things about them and I'm up here in NorCal.

I have. It's been a long time since I've eaten at Jerry's, so can't say too much except I think it was good.

Tommy's - ugh. I used to eat there a lot as a college student. There's no way I can put my stomach through that anymore. Way too greasy. About 10 years ago a friend and I went there for old times' sake - we each took about three bites of our burgers and threw the rest away.

Jerry's is good but on the higher end of price, but you get decent portions for that. And you can trust that it's kosher as well. They have a great bakery with some amazing cheesecakes. If you're in sherman oaks, they have another location called Solley's which is basically the same quality food and price. I went there last night actually and saw John Tesh there with his family.

Original Tommy Burgers is really good but it's just like most hamburger stands. If you have a chili cheeseburger that you really like upnorth from a burger stand, it's like tommy's most likely.

    Word. Wet fries rock.

There's a great Cuban place on Ball, right next to the M&F entrance called Cuban Pete's. Great food, great service, and amazing mojitos.

Honolulu Harry's in Corona has great Hawaiian fusion dishes, and their sweet potato appetizer is to die for. And I don't even LIKE sweet potatoes.

OMG yes. I had never had it before one opened where I live, but its so good. One order of fries feeds like 4 people.

Also, Chilis is my top fav.
    Then Reds BBQ
The Habit has some pretty good burgers but IMO nothing beats an In N Out burger

Dude! I totally forgot about that place. They have awesome pastrami and their chili cheese fries are out of this world - one order can feed 4 people.

The owner of both Solley's and Jerry's is the husband of Cindy "it's now ok for me to go nude but never when i actually looked good" Margolis.

Haha you and DD said the same thing. I wish I knew you both BEFORE I went. My entire family and some cousins went for the first time maybe 6 years ago. My mom just gave me a wad of cash and instructed me to order for EVERYONE while they hold the table down.

Silly me. There were six of us. So what did I do? I ordered a pastrami sandwich each for everyone and the following:

    -chili cheese fries x 1
    -wet fries x 1
    -onion rings x 1
    -regular fries x 4

The cashier's eyes bulged but didn't say a thing!

Yah, we had a lot of leftover potato and two whole pastrami sandwhiches.
