wow... so strange... but anything can kill you if it's dont too much in a short time...

hope the family gets what they think is deserved... because even a waver should not contain dead by water..

Water can kill you by upsetting the electrolyte balance in your body. You need a proper balance of sodium, potassium, and calcium (among other things) in order for your muscles to function properly, including your heart. Too much water and there isn't enough of the other things to make your body work. Most victims of water intoxification die of heart attacks or heart failure.

This is really sad, but again, you have to drink gallons and gallons of water to die this way. Not the smartest thing to do to win a $250 toy that you can get almost anywhere by now. I feel worst for her kids.

I first though the point of the contest was to drink water and then see how long you could "hold it." I didn't know it involved drinking gallons of water to see how much you could drink. I learned of water intoxication in elementary school science and the bodies way of making sure everything was balanced. This should have sent up red flags to everyone, the radio station and the participants.

I'm not sure if this is a case of a Radio Station doing something stupid, or just stupid people.

I mean, on one point it's not widely known. But come on, you put too much of ANYTHING into your body and you will have ill effects. Period.

Something tells me she would have ended up throwing her Wii Remote into her TV anyway.

I know a few things but I never knew that too much water could kill you.

I heard this story on the news yesterday and was so saddened by it. How unfortunate to die because you don't know better and others don't know better than to do something like this. I feel terrible for her husband and children too.

This is sad. What people will resort to for something you can easily buy now. Maybe she didn't have the money, though and that's why she entered. Either way, i'm sure that with the lawsuit that i'm sure is to come, they'll have money.
I feel bad for her children who are now motherless because of some stupid contest that was a sad idea to begin with.
