The stupid station should have known. And they should be fully criminally liable for this stunt.

There's been several stories in the media about fraternity pledge week deaths from water intoxication, so it's not like they're out of the loop. They're a media outlet, for cryin' out loud.

I hope the marketing dunce who cooked up this scheme loses more than just his job.

You know.....I remember going out and playing when I was a kid - riding bikes, building forts - walking to the store - going to Disneyland even, as a kid.

I think the 'society of children' is to 'electronically advanced' and, personal opinion, I believe their imagination is stunted when they have all of these 'things' to play with.

I saw someone playing a Wii and you can play tennis and stuff. Well, shoot......why don't you just go play tennis - it's much cheaper and more fun.

I don't know too much about the Wii and am not to techologically advanced, but I do know that I am going to teach my son how to ride a bike, play in the dirt, build with Lego's etc before the knowlege of these 'electronics' even enter his brain.

As a resident of Sacramento (where this contest happened), I am saddened for the family of the lady who died. As a little update, the morning DJ's who an the contest are now on indefinite leave (that usually means fired).

I find everyone at fault in this case - the radio station and the victim. An electronic device is not worth one's health.

It's a sad situation all around.

According to KFBK (a good news station in Sacramento) ten employees at the station have been fired, including the entire morning crew.

The report also indicated that they had no medical staff on site and that they got warning calls from doctors and nurses

One would assume that during a contest of this nature doctors and RNs would be present. I'm shocked and appalled that the crew organizing this contest put very little thought into it. The safety of those participating in the contest should have come first!

Duh! Um, I'm sure she wouldn't think it was worth dying for either! It was supposed to be a fun contest, and we mom's will do all kinds of stuff to make our kids happy.

Her kids will end up with a whole lot more than a wii now, but I'm sure it wasn't worth losing their mom. Poor kids, but they will always know how much their mom loved them.

That is what I was thinking. Both parties should be blamed if you look at it in this angle. It was a senseless way to die but could have easily been avoided.

Most lawyers have no idea how much water it takes to kill a healthy person. The lawyers would have just told them to use a superduper broad release and waiver.
