Mother of three dies for a Wii

One heck of a sad way to die, just to win your kids a Wii:

28-year-old Jennifer Strange died this past Friday as a result of competing in a contest to win a Wii for her three kids.

"Hold Your Wee for a Wii" (let's just all bask in the genius of whoever thought that name up together, shall we? ) was the brainchild of KDND in Sacramento and was exactly what it sounds like: contestants drank a load of water, and the last one to stay dry won a Wii.

Strange apparently died from water intoxication, which occurs when too much water is consumed in too short a time span.

water intoxication also caused the death of a fraternity pledge a while ago....

what a horrible plan and i can't believe KDND's lawyers signed off on something like this

This is really not worth it... I would rather pay extra or wait till it comes out again. I wonder if the radio station really looked into this.

My coworker and was wondering if this is possible and reading about it on wikipedia is just as scary.

That is not worth it but then again some people will do anything to get something for free. I know a lot of stores where I live at have them on the shelves and all you need to do is go in there and buy one. It is not free but if she did that she would at least be alive to see her 3 kids grow up.

I thought it would be something like drink some water for a couple of hours and then see how long they could hold it. By how much she drank in that short of a time just makes it seem pointless.

That's exactly what I was thinking. This is an example of of a situation where "good press is better than no press" really doesn't work for the station.

this is very sad, I pray for the children of thos poor woman. yeah, we all do stupid things to win stuff, look at lisa and darkbeer that rode that roller coast all day, we do stupid things to win stuff, but we are only human. look at the contest to eat a cocroach? it truly is a sad day for this woman and her family
