CREATIVE MC'ers: What is your muse?

Hey guys, I have a question for all the creative, artistic types here on MiceChat.

What inspires you creatively? Where or What is your muse?

When in a creative slump or block what ignites the creative flow for you again? Excercise? Yoga? Your happy place? Food?

How do you get those ideas flowing again?

Re: CREATIVE MC'ers: What is your muse?

For me, being around other creative, happy, supportive people helps.
My creativity woke up from hibernation when I moved to someplace with a lot of sun.
Supportive friends help. My roommates are wonderful.
Exercise is good. Walking in the sun helps me think.
Long road trips get me thinking up cool ideas to write about.
My happy food is junk food. Haribo Golden Bears Gummy Bears... love those.

Looking at other peoples work inspires me to get my butt in gear. Sometimes going for a walk with my camera helps.

I like listening to music that has certain meaning to me, that will evoke an emotion in me that will help me create. Usually it's Morrissey, don't know why though ...

Re: CREATIVE MC'ers: What is your muse?

Hmm - if I have a case of "design block" (like I'm starting to run into right now!) I either consult my business partner, or my design books.

My usual process starts with "what are we trying to accomplish/convey" - this initial brainstorm triggers keywords which give me a starting point. I'm kind of an odd duck in the design world. I never start with a look. I always start with a foundation of content and function. The look kind of falls into place after that. Kind of like making sure the building will stand before painting and decorating it.

But sometimes if it's just not happening, I throw it into a mental corner to simmer for a while.

Many things inspires me when it comes to thinking of new characters, etc. Things such as music (Johnny Cash songs to be more precise), Marc Davis sketches, and RollerCoaster Tycoon inspire me and always inspire me to be more creative .

    You said flowing

I like listening to music that I like.

If I'm in the mood to do some new thing landscape-wise, I like to sit in the yard and just think about what I want to do and what it might look like. Of course Ive only done this twice over the past 10 years but I think what I did looks great

Re: CREATIVE MC'ers: What is your muse?

I thought you were asking "What is your mouse?" Guess that means I'm not yet done with being sick...

But, what inspires me -- other people are a huge help. Looking at what others do, finding new techniques through what they do. Then, go out and walk around, finding ways to use those techniques.
