Time to make a change in my life-No I'm not leaving MiceChat

Hello Gang!

As members of my MiceChat family I wanted to tell you about a goal that I have made which will be quite a big deal. I am 24 and live with my parents. I have an associates degree and to be honest I've been sitting on it for a year. I have come to a conclusion both on my own and with help from my parents that I need to do something and not sit on my butt all day long. I need to go out and get a job or continue my education. I also feel that I need a new start as well. So my desire is to eventually move out and on my own.

Life has presented itself with an interesting opportunity. My cousins in Mississippi moved on out to San Antonio, TX in December. I have a good friend who is totally blind (I am legally blind and have some sight) and has been living there for several years. On a hunch I found his page on myspace and got back in touch with him. My friend William is willing to help me in the process of possibly moving out there. I have yet to visit San Antonio but William says I would really like it and the government services in Texas for the visually impaired are much better than Georgia's (William lived in Atlanta before moving with his family to Texas and i met him though the Atlanta Center For the Visually Impaired).

So right now I am in the process of getting all my ducks in a row, especially appealing to Social Security to get the whole amount I am entitled to through SSI (I'm only getting the half benefit because I am living at home and they are not aware that I am paying rent and my fair share of expenses-plus I do not believe I received the proper amount of back-pay that I should have received a few years ago).

I know and realize that was a long story to read through and I thank you for that. You guys have been quite supportive of me and my family in the past year and I wanted y'all to know what's going on and what I want to do. This is going to be quite difficult, especially because I have been living at home for 24 years. Your advice and support are not required but would definitely be appreciated.

PS: To facilitate me in my efforts to get all my ducks in a row I am dropping Tuesday nights on my radio schedule. I will be doing only Thursday nights for the time being (except for tonight...I have some related issues to take care of)

You can NEVER go wrong in getting educated. Education will open a bunch of doors that you currently cannot open.

I look in the paper all the time to see what jobs I am qualified for. I have to say, before I got my B.S. and Masters, there were a ton of jobs I couldn't even consider. Now I am highly qualified and I can apply for a huge variety of positions.
