    Question Odd post office question..

Okay so I'm in the process of helping my mom move and our address change is all screwy and complicated just like moving is.. and so I ordered a package off the net and had it shipped to my friend's house two blocks away. I've done this before and when I do I usually bill it to my real name and then change my last name on the shipping address so that in the event of needing a signature they can sign off on it. Unfortunately this time they weren't home when UPS came and now I have to pick up the package from the post office. My concern is that I won't be able to get the package since a) the last name isn't the one on my ID and b) the address isn't the same either. I was thinking I'd take a print out of the order saying the shipping name and showing the billing name and hoping that would explain to them the scenario. Anybody work in a post office and know how this could be handled? Because I already paid for the package so yeah..

UPS is not the same as the Post Office. Might help a bit if you pick it up from the correct location.
Mom, remember, it's not what a person is like on the outside that counts,
it's what they are like in their HEART!

UPS will sometimes leave items with or have final delivery handled by USPS.

Don't know about picking the item up. But you can usually tell UPS to just leave the item without a signature or anybody being home, or to continually try dropping off the item.

Well around here UPS usually leaves the package at the post office if you're not there to get it.. but either way the question stands.

My billing address is different than my mailing address and I have never had issues using my name at my mailing address. I have also signed off on packages under other peoples names. I'm not sure how difficult it will be to pick the package up. I know fed ex is VERY picky.

Okay that makes me feel better, the stuff I ordered was over $100 that's why I was concerned about being able to pick it up and asked here because as I said I'm busy helping my mom move and can't get it until Friday.

Don't wait too long...They might return it to the sender.

Call them and let them know of your intentions.

    Good luck!

True true, I have some time to run over to the post office tomorrow so I'll find out how it goes.

    EW,

Call them with your tracking number and they will help you by attempting to re-deliver, or telling you which office you can come pick up your package. Bring your ID, and also some type of receipt from the net, you should be ok. Good luck.

The receipt and ID should be okay.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes!

If they left something there saying it was at the house, thats usually all you need. Ive had that happen at my own apartment and when I went to pick it up, all I had was the slip letting me know it was at the post office they didnt ask for ID or anything.
    Call and ask too.
