Smile Stroll Thru Capital Park in Sacramento - Pics!!!!

Earlier this week I was up in Sacramento for meetings at the capitol, so afterwards to kill time while waiting to get to the airport I figured I’d take some shots around the Capital Park. It's truly a beautiful park, with great representation from areas around California and its history. If you ever catch yourself in Sacramento and have a couple hours to kill, I recommend taking a stroll thru this park, and even maybe take the Capital tour they have daily!!!

Here are some shots around the park…

    The front of the Capital...

Some detail on the 'barricade' posts they have all around the sidewalks

    California 9/11 memorial....

The new Health building they had money for but couldn't spend some on keeping at least one ER open .....

A courtyard area with different flowers representing the different areas, along with some inspirational quotes on plaques...

State Flag on a windy day...

    Veterans Memorial...

    Vietnam Veterans memorial....

This playful squirrel loved following me around...

    My Favorite Governor!

The top of the Capital sneaking thru the trees of the park...

    Father Junupiro Serra.....

I hope he's blessing the people in there trying to get things done, God knows they need it

This is some detail on the north end of the Capital....

    The front again....

A beautiful catherdral right by the Capital,

This building caught my attn, Elks Lodge #6 where you can find McCormick & Schmicks

Thats it! Hope you enjoyed it

    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

    Great pics

I was in Sacramento on Thursday just a few blocks away at the federal bldg, then toured the RR museum (trip report pending)

Would have been funny if we passed each other, eh ?

    Thanks for the great pics!

We were just there a couple of weeks ago ourselves.

Before enjoying a nice dinner in Old Sac, we stopped by the Park to pay our respects to the fallen Officers at the Police Officer's Memorial.

I have a close friend/co-worker that is honored there and a few other acquantances as well.

Sadly, there are WAY TOO MANY names on that Memorial, if you know what I mean...

LOL Actually....its to the direct right of this, you can see a part of it on the right, I think...(this is the south end, and his office would have a direct access to it since it is adjacent)

I was at the capitol the day after it was hit by the Big Rig truck. There was smoke still coming out and a huge hole in the building. Did anybody die from that?

Also, My Dad built that Vietnam Momorial that you took a photo of.
