    Hugging Hello

Who do you hug hello? Everyone? A few people? No one? Do you hug your friends goodbye?

    And how often?

I ask, because there's this mom of my daughter's friend who hugs me each time she sees me. It's nice. Weird, but really nice. We're not friends, our kids don't go to the same school, but each time we see each other, I get a bear hug from her.

I have two close friends I see almost everyday and if we don't see each other, we call. One I hug almost every other time I see her, the other one...almost never. I never really thought about it until I saw them both this morning and hadn't talked to them over the weekend or yesterday. One hugged me immediately, the other I didn't hug and didn't feel the need to. I think she must put out "don't hug me" vibes.

Are you a hugger? Are you put off when others hug you? Do you appreciate a big hug, but don't initiate?

For the record, I don't usually initiate. I used to have a friend who hugged me 2-3 times during a single conversation, and she broke me in--before her I think I might hug someone if I hadn't seen them in a few years.

Other people I just want to squeeze. And I do (the DMCA knows this). Other friends, I usually let them figure out the whole hugging thing, and then I know what to do the next time I see them.

I was going to say, that I know for a fact that aside from Fishbulb, you give the best hugs.

(her secret is to hug for about 15 seconds too long, it makes it that much more special and meaningful)

    Re: Hugging Hello

I like hugs. I like people who hug. But I didn't initiate hugs because some people get weirded out by it. If someone that I'm not too close to hugs me hello, I'll interpret it as them being warm, friendly people.

I am totaly a hugger, I don't just use these to be cute...

if it's in a post, it's where I would hug you if we were talking face to face...

I love hugs, it's a nice physical connection with another person, lets everyone know your there for them (or them for you) or whatever...

I hug most of my friends when I see them, one in particular every time I see her and when we leave.
another not so often, but still a lot.

If I feel someone needs a hug, I hug 'em.

I never turn away a hug, they are too important.

    Re: Hugging Hello

To clarify, I do the handshake/one-armed hug for guys and A-frame hugs for girls.

Bree is the only one that gets the full body to body hug.

Yeah, you forgot me *tsk tsk*

I love hugs, I really do, but I think hugs are very much a personality issue, and a personal space issue, everyone I know that is a hugger is (obviously) comfortable with a smaller personal space bubble.

I hug my Day care mommies when the have a rough day,
I hug my friends, I hugged my kids teacher when thanking her for something.

A few weeks ago, one of my husbands friends was over, and he looked so crest fallen, but I don't really know him, I told B is it wouldn't have been inappropriat I would have hugged him too...

I'm a hugger. Big time. Not a day to day hugger though. But, if I haven't seen you for awhile watch out!

I think Mtngirl is the most huggiest of the girls and I adore Fishbulb hugs, but Stink's hugs are the most caressing

    Re: Hugging Hello

I'm a firm believer that you can never, ever have too many hugs. When the mood strikes me I hug. Could be hello, goodbye or just randomn.

I also feel the same way about kisses. And I'm only talking friend kisses here. They can happen on the cheeks or lips.

Totally touchy feely!! I just love to feel connected and take making sure that the people I care about know just how much
