    Re: Pearl Harbor/Omaha Beach question?

So whats ships are currently sunk in Pearl Harbor? It seems like most of them have been raised?

Why didn't they raise the Arizona when they raised the other ships?

Not hard enough. All the information you're asking about it is out there.

I just found the answer to the question you asked, easily.

But I'll let you do the research.

You should probably consider buying a few books on the subject.

I second what Tui said, but Id also suggest going to your local library and reading some books.
Also, pay attention in your history class in school. You will learn a great many things.
Almost every question you've asked, I remember learning about in the 11th grade in my history class.

First off, get a throat lozenge.

If I can read you clearing your throat....you should do something about that.

Secondly, we are telling you that the information is out there. I've looked up the majority of the questions you asked and they are out there and very easy to find.

Google, Yahoo, Ask.com, Wikipedia, YouTube...all of those sites will lead you the the information you are looking for. I know this for a fact because I've seen it.

Barf, Im just saying. All the questions you've asked are easily answered by picking up a book or looking it up on the internet. These arent secret questions that *maybe* someone will know.

Here’s a gimme. Start reading there and continue on. Really, as I said earlier, it's fantastic that you're so interested in learning about these events, but I promise you that there is nothing better than finding and reading the sources yourself. Just like you wouldn't want us to just tell you what riding Space Mountain is like, you'd want to discover it personally yourself, finding out the history of these things yourself is the most rewarding way to do it.

everything i gave you was either from my endless watching of History channel or studying of sites online. Look harder. Try looking at 5 sites before asking someone else to find it for you.

I think the Arizona was not raised because it couldn't be done. Although it sank upright, a massive explosion tore through the decks.

My grandmother's brother (my great uncle) William Henry Hays died on the Arizona and his body was never recovered. I spoke once with a historian regarding my great uncle and found that he worked in the shop, which was right about where the bomb exploded.

Sounds more like micechat was your first resort.

The ability to do research is an important skill to develop, not just for school, but also so that you have the freedom to learn anything you want, without having to ask others to do it for you. It is GREAT that you are inquisitive about world history. That is rare to see in someone your age and you should try to learn as much about everything in the world that interests you.

    But...

Put a little effort into it. The questions you ask are all easily found on the internet or in a public library. There are easily thousands of resources for WW2 information out there. If we can find these answers, so can you. Micechat was most certainly not your last resort. It was just easiest.

For example: I just typed "USS Arizona bodies" into google. This was the first hit and provides a lot of information that might interest you. It took all of 5 seconds to do.
