    Your comfort activity

So I wasn't having the greatest day today. But I had brought my CD player with me to school (yeah I'm old school, no mp3 player for me) and had brought The Beatles Revolver with me, so I put it in and listened to it on my bus ride home. Was able to get through most of the album and was amazed on how much better I felt. I realized that this album as well as a few others are my comfort music, I can listen to them at any time and I'm automatically much happier and in a better mood. So like a comfort food, I have comfort music.

Other albums are Green Day's Nimrod, Marathon's self titled and The Tokens' Lion Sleeps Tonight

So what's your comfort activity. Do you have a certain album you listen to? A certain food that you eat? A place you visit? A hobby you do? What makes the day better no matter how horrible it's been and always manages to perk you up?

    Re: Your comfort activity

I tend to listen to music also when I'm in a bad mood, depressed or having problems. I listen to a lot of Alan Parsons, or sometimes New Age stuff. Theres not really a particular artist or genre I listen to more than others for these times, but music has always been important to me. I never learned to play anything, but I love to listen.

Sometimes hanging out in here also helps.

I love to mow the yard and garden to get me out of a funk. Also, hot baths, with candles.

I've also found that developing photographs is very relaxing, though I no longer have the means to do it.

Slashing away at Heartless in my Kingdom Hearts game makes me always feel better. Nothing like mashing the X button to Oblivion!

Listening to music while putting together a puzzle.

That way I can drown out everybody.

When I'm touchy, grumpy, out of sorts, I resort to Starbucks. I'm a sucker for a soy latte. It just soothes my soul. Especially if I walk there.

If it's after 5 p.m., and I'm feeling like that, I'm having a glass of red wine and lighting candles and reading to relax.

Hmm - music helps. If I'm angry/upset, something by Offspring or Violent Femmes helps me de-stress.

Reading is my fallback activity - if I read, I will be in a good mood.

If the Xanax hasn't kicked in yet, there is nothing like a little Call of Duty 2 to get your frustrations out

And Tui echo's my feelings exactly. Music heals all wounds. I will try to listen to stuff I haven't heard in a while like "Level 42, Thompson Twins, Howard Jones"..., it forces me to pay attention and try to remember the lyrics or something about the song.

Also, if I recognize I'm in a bad mood, I will immediately go over and kick, er I mean play with my dogs. There's no way in the world to be unhappy around my dogs. They always bring out a smile, and life's instantly better!

I can think of another comfort activity, but this is a family board...

    Re: Your comfort activity

I tend to listen to calming music and either sit on my screened in porch or take a drive.

I try to get lost on my drive, I usually find the greatest short cuts that way. When I lived across the bay I had this route that inspired me to work harder in my life because I would go through the neighborhoods on the beach with the million dollar homes, gorgeous.

I tend to fall back on reading and lighting candles. Nice scent, getting lost in a good book, what can be better!

I usually put on some Josh Groban and curl up with my old Beauty and the Beast book. Sometimes i'll practice dance, though. It relaxes me.

    Re: Your comfort activity

Depends on the exact kind of mood I'm in.

Sometimes rum and MiceChat will do the trick (like last night... ).

If I'm angry or frustrated about something, cleaning house does it for me. I hate doing it any other time, but when I'm in a mood like that, scrubbing the counters, floors, and tubs, and cleaning up everything else is so physical that I work a lot of it out of my system. Now that I've had an ipod for a while, I use that while I'm cleaning, too. It has a lot of Disney stuff on there, but also a lot of other soundtracks.

It's a shame I don't get angry too often! My home would be much nicer!

And sometimes a good video game is great. Sims is really good for that because you can kind take out on them whatever the world has taken out on you to get you in a mood.
"But every night, when it gets dark
    and the stars come out,
I'll look up on her behalf.
I'll look up in the sky and think of you."

Usually read, take pictures, play in photoshop, or garden. IDK, what ever I can think of doing first. I have way to many hobbies. lately I have been wanting to finish my quilt....
