    Talking Going to NYC

I am going for the 2nd time in May. I am going to see Lion King and to the WoD store on 5th Ave. Can anybody else let me know of other fun Disney things to do. I have already done some of the tourist things (i.e. Statue of Liberty, WTC site), but if anyone knows any local places to hang out or any other places that I have to go to. Thanks.

^ have fun! I don't know of any other Disney sights to see but the Apple Store on fifth avenue is worth seeing if you are a Mac/ipod fan. I remember it being pretty close to the WOD store. Also the Marriott Marquis has a bar with cool views of Times Square if you are looking for something to do after Lion King.

    Re: Going to NYC

I love SO many things in NYC. You can take them or leave them. Only one is Disney related.

Central Park---there is an Alice in Wonderland statue in there.. http://travel.webshots.com/photo/292...89039143UKrGfF)
--- inside of Central Park is a memorial to John Lennon and it's called "Strawberry Fields". (Get a good map of Central Park..it is HUGE.) Also, there's a gorgeous fountain called the "Bethesda Fountain" in Central Park that I love to sit by and people watch. http://travel.webshots.com/photo/295...89039143sCLWuQ (See photo)

Carnegie Deli - gigantic food! Best reuben EVER! And, also best cheesecake! Another great food joint is

    Empire State Building

The "American Museum of Natural History" has amazing full dinosaurs and other creatures in their collection. Fascinating.

Free ride on the Staten Island Ferry

    Rockefeller Center

MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) -- you can see the original Starry Night painting there!!! Also, lots of Andy Warhol

There are SO many things I can suggest. How long will you be in town?

Is it true the Gray Papaya hot dogs are really good? I've seen the place in movies and they make it look so delicious.

was there in December, and I love, love LOVE NYC!! I think the Appel store in next to FAO Swartz, and they still have that piano from big that you can get to try, then hang around while the staff play the music from the movie... too COOL!!!
We saw the Loin King too, you can also see Beauty and the Beast (with Donny Osmond as Gaston) and Mary Poppins. How the Grinch stole Christmas was playing too, but I don't know if it is now. Times Square is the BESTEST place in the world LOL LOL LOVE it there, and DON'T miss using the Charmin' bathrooms at times square... if they're still there

    Re: Going to NYC

In august i went to NYC for the first time. This thread may help you:
    http://www.micechat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32582
I started this last summer and some people mae great suggestions about what to do
    I reccomend:
China Town, it may not be very clean, but it sure has some cool stuff
Top of the rock: its the top of the nbc building in rockefeller center, its where they set the tv show thirty rock, but you can take a really cool elevator to the top. its about the height of the empire state building, but way cheaper and less crowded.
Theres also this tiny little surprise once you get in the elevator...pretty cool!
I personally dont suggest going to the statue of liberty by way on the white line. I would take the FREE staten island ferry past the statue. Good views of it without the weight.
Of course, also use the subway. Its safer, cleaner and belive it or not..FUN than most people think. During our entire stay in NYC we saw EVERYTHING, and used a taxi once!
It was from ground zero to i think its called the mariners wharf...anyway
Have fun though! I miss new york so much, way more than i thought i would, and going there was a major turning point in my life.
    I <3 NYC

Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum. See Jack Sparrow! http://new.photos.yahoo.com/garalpl_...03588514529/10 as well as all the other great wax figures. There is a new M&M's store at Times Sq. http://new.photos.yahoo.com/garalpl_...804124611468/6 Unfortunately, Charmin Bathroom World was only there for the Holiday season. http://new.photos.yahoo.com/garalpl_...804124611431/5

Pinks is overrated IMO. I had them on Valentine's Day '06 after seeing Tim Burton & Danny Elfman at a Best Buy in West Hollywood and they (the hot dogs) were not that great. They add way too much junk in there. I just want a simple hot dog and the simplest one I could get was a dog with chili and cheese. My bun fell apart with all the chili stuffed in it. Honestly a waste of my time, waiting in line for almost an hour for a hot dog I didn't eat.

    Re: Going to NYC

I live in New York, and go ahead and go to the WoD store if you are a Disney fan and need to see it, but it's nothing special. I say, instead of coming to New York and looking for "Disney" things to do, come to New York for New York. Ride the Staten Island Ferry. Wander in Central park, have lunch at the Boat House and then rent a row boat on The Lake. Vist the Met, the Guggenheim and MOMA. Go to the Top of the Rock at night. Window shop in SoHo or on Madison Avenue or on Fifth Avenue. Visit Tiffany's. Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge...to Brooklyn! Take pictures of lower Manhattan from the Brooklyn Heights promenade. Take the subway out to Coney Island and ride the famous Cyclone. There's LOT's to do!

    Re: Going to NYC

Thank you all for all the great advice. I will be there for about 12 days and when I was there is September for the first time we already did some of the tourist stuff, but I wanted more of a local view. Thanks again.
