I will assume it's a $79 Million lottery (Since the current powerball lottery is about that much)
After lump sum payout minus taxes I should be end up with something like $29,000,000 in my pocket.
Let's take two million off the top for instant gratification (travel, fast car, electronic junk, etc...) and legal fees. That leaves $27,000,000
I've read that with safe investments (ie CD's) it takes around $250,000 to earn $1,000.00 /month in income.
So that would work out to around $108,000 a month in interest. I'll use 20% of that to re-invest so that the principal can grow at least equal to inflation. That leaves $86,000 a month. My wife and I could probably manage to squeak by on just $40,000 a month. The remaining $46,000 I'd distribute to our extended family and various charities. Oh and pocky. I'd buy lots and lots of pocky!
This is not life changing money, this is generation changing money.
