Re: Chicken Pox?

I was 8 or 9. I didn't have a very bad case of them so I don't remember it being too bad. But I do remember during that time, my dad came in while I was laying on the couch and had to tell me that my cat was dead. Our wonderful neighbor had poisoned her, we found out later.

I agree Alice, I think the best thing to do, is just get the kids exposed to it young. Then after the bout with it, their immune system would remember it and prevent future attacks....Atleast that's how I think the Immune System works.

Re: Chicken Pox?

I go them when I was six. I had pretty bad-looking welts all over, but fortunately, they didn't itch as badly as they could have. The worst ones were on the tops of my feet - I couldn't wear shoes for about a week because they kept irritating the welts.

I'm also fortunate because I didn't get any noticeable scars from them.

Re: Chicken Pox?

I remember having them, and I was about 5 maybe 6 years.

My brother got it when he was about six or seven on the Fourth of July none of us were allowed to play cause of him.

YOU CAN! My cousin Michelle was 2 when we all got them. She had a very mild case - and got them again nearer to 10 years old. Such a long time ago....my cousin Michelle is married almost a year and is 8 months pregnant now! Wow - how time flies.

Re: Chicken Pox?

I was 10 years old and I got them over Christmas Break. To add insult to injury I was in Disneyland while I had them.

Me? I was about 13 - Summer 1984 - and then my brother and cousin got them, then my sister and other cousin got them, then my other cousin got them......

Summer of 1984 was a 'bad' summer.
Jesus Lord I got them at 23 yrs old. 23. The older you are when you get them, the worse it is. It was horrible.

Actually, the "second time" really is not chicken pox, but Shingles.

Re: Chicken Pox?

I got them at age 15 a few weeks to a month after a major surgery, so my immune system was very weak ,and it was a living hell having them.

Re: Chicken Pox?

I had shingles when I was 11. It freaked out my doctors since it was supposed to be an 'old persons disease'. My oldest son had Chicken Pox quite severe when he was 2 and then got Chicken Pox (he has never had shingles) again when he was 9 and again it was severe. Of course two weeks after that his little brother got them for the first time. It sucked to be mom for that month.

I got them when I was 13 ... right when they were taking graduation pictures in the 8th grade! So no pictures for me.
