    Arrow Six hours in L.A.

Due to some terrible flight coordination by some airlines, which shall remain unnamed (it's based in Atlanta and has 5 letters), we will be spending about six hours connecting on an upcoming trip at LAX airport.

Other than staying in the terminals and doing a run to In-N-Out, what would you do for such a short stay in the area. We could rent a car and drive someplace. Disneyland would probably be too far.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Disneyland is DEFINATELY too far, you'd be spending most of your time in traffic.

Marina Del Rey and Santa Monica Pier are pretty close. You could swing a short visit to one of those.

Anything more than 10 miles away from the Airport and your pushing it.

I kind of like hanging out in airports. But maybe that's just me.

So do I, but six hours is too much.

Unless you really know the LAX area well, I wouldn't suggest it. Depending on where your terminal is it could sometimes take a very long time just to get in and out of the airport. And then you have to deal with traffic on the freeways and such which is unpredictable at best.

You would be best just to stay put, IMHO.

I've been to LAX quite a number of times and I'm comfortable driving around, so that isn't the problem.

This would happen to be on a legal holiday Monday, if that makes any difference.

I think I'd just stay put. Bring a book. Do you have a portable DVD player? Go out and by some new DVD's for it and have a movie afternoon. Take a nap? Dance for some spare change! Challenge other people waiting to a stare-down contest.

You know, if you had a six hour layover at John Wayne (which I don't think they have that many layovers -- I don't know) you could have easily gone to Disneyland for a few hours and even gone on some rides and maybe a quick snack.

The Promenade @ Howard Hughes Center is a nice mall area, and also has a movie theatre. According to Mapquest it is only 7 minutes from LAX.

That's 7 minutes without traffic. You can count on an easy half hour if you are heading out there at the wrong time LOL

Yeah, I'd stay put. I'm too paranoid about stuff like this. I'd be nervous that something would happen and I'd miss my flight.

Another beach vote here! It would be a perfect amount of time to go to Santa Monica!

Definitely do In-N-Out, that was going to be my suggestion!

If you rent a car, do the Hollywood thing, drive down Sunset, then toward Beverly Hills, Santa Monica Pier and back to the airport. You can do all that fairly quickly. It's a great drive!

You could go visit the restaurant in the big arch thing at the airport. I can't remember the name, but it was designed by Disney Imagineers. I just saw it on the food network. There are a bunch of hidden mickeys in there - make a day of it.

Will trade husband for Disneyland and DCA Pins!
