    Summer Jobs!

So, I was told during dinner tonight I need to find a summer job.
The problem is, i'm only 15. Do you know of any places (big retail preferably) that will hire a 15 year old? I'm interested in working at Hollywood Video, but from what i'v heard, you must be 18.
Any I really don't want to work at any sort of Restarant.
    Any suggestions?

I believe some restraunts hire 15 year olds to buss tables.

You can always umpire baseball? I started doing that at 13.

Hmm, this is a hard one esp since you are quite young! Maybe try and see if your local YMCA or parks and recs are hiring or Trader Joes?

Well around here they set up a ton of Sno-shack stands.. I know they hire fairly young, if they have any of those around you, you could try one of those...

    Re: Summer Jobs!

I went through this with my daughter when she was 15 and lived in CA - you will not be able to work retail at 15 - you have to be 16. You will need a work permit in most places, but it's summer and you won't be able to get one soooooo you will need to be creative.

Maybe, just maybe a Mom and Pop Pizza place - you could make pizzas

Try the movie theatres - My daughter applied when she was 15, but we moved before she got any answer

You might be able to work for the City Parks and Recreation - maybe - you might have to be 16

What you need to find is a small Mom and Pop place that needs the summer help - sometimes those really small bakeries or local grocery (not Ralphs or Von's - you have to be 16 or 17)

    Good luck!

    Re: Summer Jobs!

Not alot of retail places hire at 15, some resturants do and most grocery stores do, that's your best bet.

You could umpire baseball, but don't most rec leagues play only in Spring and fall? that's pretty much the case here because it gets so hot during the summer.

In my opinion 15 is too early to be made to get a summer job. 16 is probably just about right but by that time most kids will probably want a job to pay for extra luxuries.

If I were you, Id ask a counselor at your school.
When I was in high school (10 years ago) they had the work program through my school. At your age, you can only work a certain amt of hours I believe.
Anyway, ask them. Im sure they can help you.
Also! Summer camps are really good places to work.

    Re: Summer Jobs!

at your age you can work at Mcdonalds and other fast food places 9 at least here you can) also you can do your own yard work buisness, lawns trimming etc. ( big money for that here. good luck on the job

my daughter wants a job already! she baby sits and is saving up for a computer, she is 12 and I am sure by the time she is 15 she will be working . she is always out looking for work in the neighborhood, so far 3 babysitting jobs lined up for the summer and part time thru out the year. that kid buys her own cloths and is rolling in dough half the time.
