    Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

It's pretty somber here in Virginia right now.

VA Tech is a very popular in-state school. Most 'locals' go there or UVA. Literally dozens of alumni in my office alone. Not a pretty day.

The AP is reporting 31 dead including the shooter plus the other injuries. Very sad considering nearly everyone involved is going to be students or faculty. The campus is a VERY small college town in rural Virginia settled in the base of the mountains. Kids are going to be very shook up there.

Capping it off is the town just dealt with a shooting/manhunt from a escaped jail inmate just this august!

    Oh dear, flynnibus,

I didn't know you are located in VA. What a horrible day - those poor kids!

    She did it!

    Re: Virginia Tech Shooting

    I have a request.

So far we have avoided any wacky theories about Friday the 13th, or other historic tragedies, and dumb attempted correlations. I am pleased that is the case, because I find it really distasteful. My hope is that that thread continues to be one with class, and respect for the entire state of Virginia. I have seen similar threads here, towards the end where people make some really random speculations, or other uncouth statements that really don't have a place here.

    Thank you.

Sadly, with the shooter dead, there is not a punishment good enough for this sick monster. I only hope he was killed my law enforcement, and that he didn't get the chance to kill himself.

FoxNews.com says that the gunman in also dead; total (including him) is 32. So incredibly sad.

    This is very, very sad.
I wish they would stop saying thing like "this is the worst rampage in history". It will just make some other nut job (to put it mildly) want to break the record.

I read that too, but then an article says that the Virginia Tech PD does not know where that number comes from, so hopefully it isn't as high as we think, although on person being harmed is obviously too many.

What difference could that possibly make? Are you suggesting that cops actually enjoy having to shoot another human being, no matter the reason? 'Cuz if that's the case, I don't want anyone being a cop if they take pleasure in shooting people.
