    Song Dedication thread...

So, most Sunday evenings, I listen to a radio show by Art Lebeaux. It's an oldies show that plays a lot of music from the 50's through the 70's for the Chicano and Lowrider culture. One of the features of this radio show are song dedications that people give for their loved ones that may not be there at that exact moment in time.

I know a lot of us have people in our lives that are really special and some of them may even be on this site at some point or another, so I wanted to see if I could get a thread together for song dedications for our loved ones.

I am going to go ahead and start with my dedication for SimplySabrina.

Bree, I want to dedicate "You're still the one" by Shania Twain. We are coming up on 7 wonderful years together next month and even though people said we would never last, here we are proving them wrong every single day...

    "You're Still The One"
    by Shania Twain

(When I first saw you, I saw love.
And the first time you touched me, I felt love.
    And after
all this time, you're still the one I love.)
    Looks like we made it
Look how far we've come my baby
We mighta took the long way
We knew we'd get there someday

They said, "I bet they'll never make it"
But just look at us holding on
We're still together still going strong

    (You're still the one)
You're still the one I run to
The one that I belong to
You're still the one I want for life
    (You're still the one)
You're still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You're still the one I kiss good night

    Ain't nothin' better
    We beat the odds together
    I'm glad we didn't listen
Look at what we would be missin'

They said, "I bet they'll never make it"
But just look at us holding on
We're still together still going strong

    (You're still the one)
You're still the one I run to
The one that I belong to
You're still the one I want for life
    (You're still the one)
You're still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You're still the one I kiss good night

    (You're still the one)
You're still the one I run to
The one that I belong to
You're still the one I want for life
    (You're still the one)
You're still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You're still the one I kiss good night

I hope you all can find a song that says how you feel about the people that are close to you in your life.

    Re: Song Dedication thread...

This song is for my friends here on MC, you all know who you are!

    "Friends in Low Places"
    By Garth Brooks.

Blame it all on my roots
    I showed up in boots
And ruined your black tie affair
    The last one to know
    The last one to show
    I was the last one
    You thought you'd see there
    And I saw the surprise
And the fear in his eyes
When I took his glass of champagne
    And I toasted you
Said honey we may be through
But you'll never hear me complain

'Cause I've got friends in low places
    Where the whiskey drowns
And the beer chases my blues away
    And I'll be okay
I'm not big on social graces
Think I'll slip on down to the oasis
Oh I've got friends in low places

Well I guess I was wrong
    I just don't belong
But then, I've been there before
    Everything's all right
    I'll just say goodnight
And I'll show myself to the door
    Hey I didn't mean
    To cause a big scene
Just give me an hour and then
    Well I'll be as high
    As that ivory tower
    That you're livin' in

'Cause I've got friends in low places
    Where the whiskey drowns
And the beer chases my blues away
    And I'll be okay
I'm not big on social graces
Think I'll slip on down to the oasis
Oh I've got friends in low places

I've got friends in low places
    Where the whiskey drowns
And the beer chases my blues away
    And I'll be okay
I'm not big on social graces
Think I'll slip on down to the oasis
Oh I've got friends in low places

I've got friends in low places
    Where the whiskey drowns
And the beer chases my blues away
    And I'll be okay
I'm not big on social graces
Think I'll slip on down to the oasis
Oh I've got friends in low places

I've got friends in low places
    Where the whiskey drowns
And the beer chases my blues away

    Re: Song Dedication thread...

You know, I could probably do this all day long. Dedicated to all the Wicked goer's this weekend, this song goes out to the women of the DMCA. Each one has reminded me that it's great to have girlfriends. Women to share talk of Sephora and cocktails, shoes and fashion, diet and heartaches. And always love. I too have been changed for the better.

    "For Good"
    Wicked

    Elphaba
    I'm limited:
Just look at me - I'm limited
And just look at you -
You can do all I couldn't do, Glinda
So now it's up to you
    (spoken) For both of us
(sung) Now it's up to you:

    Glinda
    I've heard it said
that people come into our lives
    for a reason
    beinging something we must learn
    and we are lead
to those who help us most to grow
    if we let them
and we help them in return

Now I dont know if i believe thats true
but I know im who i am today
    because i knew you

Like a commet pulled from orbit
    As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
    Half way through the woods
Who can say, if I've ben changed for the better
    But because i knew you
I have been changed for good

    Elphaba
    It well may be
That we will never meet again
    In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
    So much of me
Is made of what I learnt from you
    You'll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
    By being my friend

Like a ship blow from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a skybird
    In a distant wood
Who can say, if I've been changed for the better
    But because i knew you

    Glinda
    Because I knew you

    Both
I have been changed for good

    Elphaba
And just to clear the air
    I ask forgiveness
For the things I've done you blame me for

    Glinda
But then i guess we know
    There's blame to share

    Both
And none of it seems to matter Anymore

    Togeather
Like a commet pulled, Like a ship blown
From orbit as its, from its mooring
Passes the sun, by a wind off the
Like a stream that meets, Sea, Like a seed
    A bolder, half-way, dropped by a
Through the wood, Bird in the wood

    Both
Who can say if I've been changed for the better
I do believe I have been changed for the better

    Glinda
    And because i knew you

    Elphaba
    Because I knew you

    Both
    Because i knew you
    I have been changed
    for good

Cannibal Corpse - The Time to Kill is Now

We see them coming a mile away
Gathered to kill on the desolate plain
    No fear in our minds
    Pure hate in our hearts

Miscalculation of our strength their bane
Take us lightly and we'll make you pay
    Pride left them defenseless
    No Mercy for Hubris

They rush to fight us and we stand and wait
Pulses quicken as they take the bait
    Mere seconds to the slaughter
    We can wait no longer

Closing fast with their weapons high
Still believing it's we that will die
    Now the ambush is sprung
Now they learn that they were wrong
    Now the killing will start
    Tear the bastards apart

They thought it would be easy but now they're being crushed
Arrogance of power leaves them dying in their blood
There will be no mercy for these filthy sons of whores
The innards of my enemys impaled upon my sword
Many years we've waited for this final day of slaughter
Our victims are decapitated, their limbs are torn asunder
Careful preparation brought our haughty victims down
Our forces are at full strength and the Time To Kill Is Now.

    Time To Kill Is Now

    Time To Kill

They are all dead, it's their end today
All lost their lives in tremendous pain
    Not one has survived
    We Left None Alive

Do not doubt our conviction to kill
Hate on our side we will never fail
    Now the killing will start
    Tear the b@stards apart
    Strike the enemy down
The Time To Kill is Motherf%%ing Now

(btw this song is dedicated to all my friends in the Villain Foundation...)

PS: Post made in jest, please get a life & don't read everything you read on the internet seriously, thank you.

This one is dedicated to Derek Adkins. He was the COOLEST! You don't even KNOW! He was the COOLEST!

    "In Your Eyes"

love I get so lost, sometimes
days pass and this emptiness fills my heart
when I want to run away
I drive off in my car
    but whichever way I go
I come back to the place you are

    all my instincts, they return
and the grand facade, so soon will burn
without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside

    in your eyes
    the light the heat
    in your eyes
    I am complete
    in your eyes
I see the doorway to a thousand churches
    in your eyes
the resolution of all the fruitless searches
    in your eyes
I see the light and the heat
    in your eyes
oh, I want to be that complete
I want to touch the light
the heat I see in your eyes

love, I don't like to see so much pain
so much wasted and this moment keeps slipping away
I get so tired of working so hard for our survival
I look to the time with you to keep me awake and alive

and all my instincts, they return
and the grand facade, so soon will burn
without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside

    in your eyes
    the light the heat
    in your eyes
    I am complete
    in your eyes
I see the doorway to a thousand churches
    in your eyes
the resolution of all the fruitless searches
    in your eyes
I see the light and the heat
    in your eyes
oh, I want to be that complete
I want to touch the light,
the heat I see in your eyes
in your eyes in your eyes
in your eyes in your eyes
in your eyes in your eyes

He loved that song! He loved that song!

    Re: Song Dedication thread...

I want to dedicate A song from Disney's TaleSpin called "Friends For Life" to all my good buddies here on MiceChat and most definatly, BD Bopper. Every single time I hear this song, I think of the friendship I have with BD on MiceChat.

    Friends For Life:

[Louie:] I got class, pananche, I'm in the groove ...
[Baloo:] As long as you don't try to move! I got style, grace and a crazy beat ...
[Louie:] You sure are light on those two left feet, and we're
CHORUS:[Both:] Friends for life, friends for life. Through all kinds of trouble and struggle and strife
    [Louie:] I've got a problem I can't explain ...
[Baloo:] I'll be there with the plane! I got moves, son ...
[Louie:] You learned from me! I got a song to sing ...
[Baloo:] If you can find the key!
[Both:] Whatever he's got I've got more of But there's one thing we both are sure of, we're

CHORUS: Friends for life, friends for life. Through all kinds of trouble and struggle and strife.

[Baloo:] I'm stuck on a mountain without a hope ...
[Louie:] I'll be there with the rope!
    [Baloo:] Like my duds?
[Louie:] Oh, you sure are cute!
[Baloo:] They fit me better than your monkey suit!
[Louie:] There's nothing you do I don't do better
[Both:] But as long as we can stick together, we're

CHORUS: friends for life, friends for life. Through all kinds of trouble and struggle and strife!

[Both:] There's all kinds of people, but we'd rather be friends for life, you and me!

    [Louie:] If I'm in a jam ...
[Baloo:] Here I am, and if I get sick ...
[Louie:] I'll fix it quick, and if I fall in love ...
    [Baloo:] Hey! That's enough!
    [Both:] We're friends for life!

You'd have been proud of me today, I really put the coffee away. Had my grande latte that someone brought me, warmed up some from yesterday AND had about 6 samples at Trader Joe's. And I'm stopping on the way to Chloe's softball game for more.

I love the song you picked for Bree!! It's our song, too!! We got together when that song came out, and each year on our anniversary, I crank it, kind of as a joke, because we don't like country music, but also because it's sappy and sweet and it fits our situation. Everyone else who got together the same time as us, is no longer together.

The Garden of Allah- Viking Valhalla
A miracle once in a while

I've got a pantheon of animals in a pagan soul

I believe that what I'm feeling

Angels and demons dancing in my head
Lunatics and monsters underneath my bed

    Re: Song Dedication thread...

This one is for Disneyland Daddy, and countless others here that are facing challenges here of different kinds.

You can spend your whole life building
    Something from nothin'
One storm can come and blow it all away
    Build it anyway

    You can chase a dream
That seems so out of reach
And you know it might never come your way
    Dream it anyway

    God is great
    But sometimes life ain't good
    And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like I think it should
    But I do it anyway
    I do it anyway

    This world's gone crazy
    It's hard to believe
That tomorrow will be better than today
    Believe it anyway

You can love someone with all your heart
    For all the right reasons
In a moment they can choose to walk away
    Love 'em anyway

    God is great
    But sometimes life ain't good
    And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like I think it should
    But I do it anyway
    I do it anyway

You can pour your soul out singing
    A song you believe in
That tomorrow they'll forget you ever sang
    Sing it anyway
    Yea - sing it anyway

    I sing
    I dream
    I love
    Anyway

    Here's my song for Stinkerbell-

Taylor the Latte Boy (sung either by Kristen Chenowith or Susan Egan, your choice)

There's a boy who works at Starbucks
    Who is very inspirational.
He is very inspirational because of many things.

I come in at 8:11, and he smiles and says, "How are you?"
When he smiles and says, "How are you?"
I could swear my heart grows wings!

    So today at 8:11
I decided I should meet him
I decided I should meet him
    In a proper formal way.

So today at 8:11 as he smiled and said "How are you?"
I said "Fine, and my name’s Kristen"
    And he softly answered, "Hey."
And I said "My name is Kristen, and thank you for the extra foam…"

And he said his name was Taylor,
Which provides the inspiration for this poem:

    Taylor the latte boy,
Bring me java, bring me joy!
    Taylor the latte boy,
    I love him, I love him, I love him…

So I’d like to get my nerve up
    To recite my poem musical.
He would like the fact it’s musical
    Because he plays guitar.
So today at 8:11, Taylor told me he was playing
In a band down in the village in the basement of a bar.

AND he smoothly flipped the lever to prepare my double latte,
But for me he made it triple! (And he didn’t think I knew)
But I saw him flip the lever, and for me he made it triple,
And I knew that triple latte meant that Taylor loved me too!
I said, "What time are you playing? And thank you for the extra skim…"
He said, "Keep the $3.55," because this triple latte was on him.

    Taylor the latte boy,
Bring me java, bring me joy!
    Taylor the latte boy,
    I love him, I love him, I love him…

I used to be the kind of girl who ran when love rushed toward her.
But suddenly a voice whispered "Love can be yours, if you step up to the counter, and order."

    Oh taylor, the latte boy
Bring me java, bring me joy
    Taylor the latte boy
I love him, I love him, I love him.

So many years my heart has waited,
Who’d have thought that love could be so caffeinated?
    Taylor, the latte boy,
I love him, I love him, I love him.
I love him, I love him, I love him.

    Re: Song Dedication thread...

And to all the members of the DMCA, I thought you might appreciate this old country tune made popular by the late Tom T Hall some years ago now...

In some of my songs I have casually mentioned
The fact that I like to drink beer
This little song is more to the point
Roll out the barrel and lend me your ears

    I like beer
It makes me a jolly good fellow
    I like beer
It helps me unwind and sometimes it makes me feel mellow
    (Makes him feel mellow)
Whiskey's too rought champaigne costs too much
And vodka puts my mouth in gear
This little refrain should help me explain
As a matter of fact I like beer
    (He likes beer)

My wife often frowns when we're out on the town
And I'm wearing a suit and a tie
She's sipping vermouth and she thinks I'm uncute
While I yell as the waiter goes by

    I like beer...

Last night I dreamed that I passed from the scene
And I went to a place so sublimed
All the water was clear and tasted like beer
Then they turned it all into wine

    I like beer...
    (Yes he likes beer)
