I don't mind people IRL calling me Tassie when we meet, but you guys pronounce it Tassie, with an S, where are here (in Australia) and when I say it, I say Tazzie (as in the devil!!) LOL LOL LOL LOL .. yep, I used to live in Tasmania, or as us Aussies call it TaZZie LOL LOL. We don't say Tasmania we call it TaZmania...... strange huh?????

I started out using Tassiekathy, but have shortened it to Tassie, I used to get TK alot LOL LOL

I'd say unless you learned someones real name beofre their sN call them that.
I respond to Adelade in real life because its one of my many nick names because I hate my name, 345,603 other girls have the same first name as me.
But with people like Butterflylark and Awkwardpineapple I'd have a hard time calling them by their sn because I worked with them for 2 weeks before I found out they were on MC

off topic but this is cool, checked my name on that site and there are only 392 people with my last name in the U.S.

it makes since considering y family made one up in the way past, lol

and there are 10,564 people named Krystle, go figure!

I think it is a personal preference. So if I ever call you by your first name on the board and you would prefer I didn't , please let me know so I won't do it again!!

I don't mind. I go by TinkPink, Tink, TP or my first name. It doesn't matter.

But I agree with MissChristine- if we start with the last names then I will have a problem!

I thought the same thing when they said there are 0 in the U.S with my first name.... Only 996 with my last and 0 with my maiden name

I don't typically use anybody's real name unless it's in their signature or in their screen-name. Actually, I've been thinking of taking mine out of my signature for awhile.

It really doesnt matter to me if my first name is used or not because even though its not common, there are lots of me in the US (in fact there are at least three of me in Los Angeles (first and last name), and two of us happen to regularly stay at the same hotel in Vegas.

I don't use my kids real names often online, but its more because many don't and seem to frown on it. My daughters name is not as common, but my son, as we have learned in this thread, has a very common first name.

I don't mind people knowing my first name, or the names of my kids. I'll never be one to call them DD1 or DD2....they have names.

But I don't use our last name anywhere online.

I dont mind my first name really - its Michelle & the 56th most popular name so that is not a concern to me, my last name is also pretty common so there are 661 of my first and last.

But the site says there are 0 people with my Daughters first name, (that is not true I have googled it and there are more). For that reason I would not post it. If her name were one of those names in the top ten I would not be as concerned. But I am pretty certain that nobody shares her exact name. I was actually shocked to see it was out there as much as it is.

Yeah, I think it's pretty confusing but then again it's a drag to write some people's screen names out so I think it's ok but if it's a fourm where alot of people look at vs not look at like teen scene and vmk sections, then it's ok to use personal names. Not alot of people with the same nicknames & screen names visit those sections.
