Cleaning Eyeglasses???

I feel like such a doofus. I've been wearing eyeglasses since I was in the 3rd grade so ya'd think I'd know how to clean them by now. But nooooo these stupid new glasses are giving me trouble.

All that the optometrist people gave me was a cloth. Well, just using the cloth smears the lenses. Using water doesn't break up the lovely, gross oil. And when I use my eyeglass solution (which worked A-OK on my last glasses) it smears them up anyway. So I have to use that, THEN water, then the eyeglass stuff again.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Is there a better and easier way to get these stupid things clean?

ok..... I use windex and a soft cotton cloth

I use a mix of 50% alcohol and 50% water which I have been told is best for cleaning glasses and computer screens

Let me guess... you got the non-reflective lenses? Those are he_ _ to clean! I will never get non-reflective ever again!

I have non reflective lenses lenses...or the coating..w/e...they are a pain to clean. the smear up a lot. I do the breathe on them first and wipe with the cloth. It works for me.

Ummmm. Just wash those things. I've been washing trucks since I was 16. I pretty much figured out how to keep them clean. Good luck!

I had them before but I swear they weren't so bad Hopefully next time I get another pair I won't be on the computer all day so I won't have to get them.

I actually use handsoap and water to clean the lenses and nosepiece- that gets rid of oil and leaves them pretty shiny. Then follow up with glass cleaner. That has always worked for me!

Using the soft cloth is the biggest thing for the shine-free lenses.

I hear ya NNL. I use the Lenscrafters glass cleaner stuff with one of their own cloths, and inevitably I still have to wipe my glasses on the shirt I'm wearing. At least the cleaner cleans it first, but the shirt buffs it better.

And I too have the non reflective coating.

Dawn dish-washing soap and hot water works wonders on mine!!

The real key is to use cotton to clean them NEVER use paper towels or facial tissue, as they are made from paper and will scratch your lenses.

I use glass cleaner at home & at work I use those alchol whipes!

My husband had that on his regular lenses and still has it on his script sunglasses (which, for whatever reason, rarely causes problems). The spray cleaner from LensCrafters and a soft, well-worn T-shirt (not polo shirt, not dress shirt, not a weird textured shirt) were by far the best combination for us.

Even soap tended to cause problems.

When they broke and the specialist asked if he wanted that option again we both yelled, "NOOOO!" People turned and looked at us. She laughed. She knows.

I usually use water and a cloth. I am going to try the windex and alcohol and see if that works. I dont remember if mine have the reflective thing or not. It can be a challenge to clean them.

I've worn glasses for - dare I say - 27 years. I did a stint with contacts recently, but I can't wear them much lately. So, I just got a new pair of specs - and they are pretty cool too (sorry, off subject).

I have clear coat lenses...and I have been having quite a time keeping them gleaming clean.

Will alcohol that all have mentioned cause any problems with the clear coat lenses???
