Marty Sklar has been touring about the country giving a presentation on what he has coined "Mickey's Ten Commandments of Imagineering". His tour brought him to Seattle last night and our own Mellonballer insightfully called an all-area Washington Mice Chat meet for this wonderful event.
I have pictures of the meet and of us with Marty Sklar as we were politely asked not to take any video or pictures of any kind during the presentation.
On to the pictures!
Mellonballer was actually first to arrive, but had wandered off by the time I got there. The first person I actually met (as I had never been to a meet of any kind myself) was Llebreknit....
Now to be fair, Mellonballer was not far behind... nor were the absolutely fabulous and evil chocolate chip cookies (as promised and so ably demonstrated by Llebreknit above)....
The Shirt, The Shirt!!
We were soon joined by jurgenb52, looking very dashing
and a perfect photo prospect for those Seattle Institute of Art students looking for a stranger to shoot (er, that is to photograph). Hey! It doesn't get any stranger that this.....
Kidding! It's TinkerMonkey followed by SimplyMad and Ykiki.
"So let me get this straight InspiredByWalt, you took your family to a gas station to wait for a bus???"
"It was a Disney bus.... sigh..."
Show me the cookies!!!
We wandered inside, and took our seats in the theatre.
We wait so patiently for the magic to begin, in great anticipation of some serious knowledge being dropped on us. It's an electric moment....
... and TinkerMonkey is on the phone to PezzLightyear. "You'll never guess where we are!" Neener!
Hey Mellonballer, can I please have the cookie recipe????
After the presentation, we stood in line to get a few moments with Mr. Sklar, who was gracious enough to stand for photos and sign autographs. A very generous and patient man.
He presented for about an hour, then took questions and really seemed like he would have stood there all night answering our questions, but his voice was wearing out.
By the time I got up to him, I thanked him for his contribution to my family's love of all things Disney....
And then, mugged for the camera!
as did micsgal...
Front row (l-r): Mellonbaler, jurgenb52
Second row: Llebreknit; TinkerMonkey, Marty Sklar; micsgal
Back row: InspiredByWalt, Ykiki, SimplyMad
We then went outside and talked for at least another 30-45 minutes. I could have stood there all night, but this is Seattle and when the sun goes down, it gets COLD! (Wait.... did he say sun?)
As I stated earlier in the post, this was my very first meet and I'll have to admit to being a bit shy at first. However, with the great love that we all share of the Mouse, it was very easy to relax and enjoy a wonderful evening with 7 of the latest additions to my 12 step program ("Hi, I'm InspiredByWalt, and I love the Mouse")
