Is 2012 the end?

of 'us'... I was watching a program on tv (ofcourse tv) and this program claims that in the year 2012 the planets will align perfectly in the center of our galaxy, this is something that hasn't happened in the past 25,000 years. during that time while we were not aligned, a gaping black hole just happened to form in the area, now they are saying when this event does happen, our solar system will be sucked into it and we will simply parish. I on the other hand will plan to go to Disneyland on that day, so if this does happen.... atleast I will be at the happiest place on earth.... for the last 5 minutes. lol

I've seen these shows too, about some big event that will happen in 2012 and all those "in the know" saying it will be bad.

But hasn't anyone thought that this "big event" might actually be something GOOD? Like some huge discovery that changes mankind for the better? Or something along those lines?

I'd like to think that way instead of the "it's the end of the world" scenario.

I don;t know much about planets or space or anything... but why would the planets aligning cause the polarity to reverse? And, why would that kill us?

Maybe in 2012, the planets will casue all of the men on earth to figure out how to pick up their socks. Hehehehe.

Well I dont know about polarity or anything.... but it just said huge black hole.... we get sucked in.... we go bye bye.

perhaps Space Mountain will do something special on that day, like just make it pitch black inside no lights or stars... hence making it a black hole. lol

The date in question is the winter solstice in the year 2012. This date comes from the Mayan calendar. The largest ring of the Mayan calendar ends at this date. According to the Mayan belief system the existence is broken down into uniform lengths of time, including a solar year very close to ours. There have been different predictions based on these lengths of time and what happens once certain ones have past. Included in these pedictions are the fall of the Mayan people and the fall of the world as a whole as it is know. While most associate this with the end of days, there is still some debate as much was lost regarding Mayan beliefs.

yes, it did say something about it being the last year of the mayan calander... but had no clue exactly what they were trying to tell me.
