    storm shutters

So, who has hurricane storm shutters?

I finally bit the bullet and spent some money but now that I have them I honestly feel alot better.

Lived here in Florida since 1989 but recently decided that time might be running out so I invested and feel great. My pocket book doesn't feel all that good but what can one say.

So, people living along the "Hurricane Belt", do you or don't you have hurricane shutters and whatever way you went, why?

we rent, and our house doesn't have them. If I was a home owner...I would sure do it though. Just them being easier than the whole plywood thing....that's worth it.

It looks like you get to try them out this weekend. Let us know how well they worked.

Naw, this is only a little rain storm! I did the plywood thing for a while and just about killed myself, what a pain in the rear, but at least its something.

    Re: storm shutters

I installed accordion shutters the year before Hurricane Wilma blew by. We're on the 33rd floor of our building and it was scary to be there without them, but it was scarier with them! Once all the shutters are closed, there is no way to see outside and the sound of the wind crashing against the shutters is terrible.

During Wilma, one of the shutters' links broke and that panel was blowing left and right with the wind. It was SO scary. The company has come to fix it since then, but we haven't really been through a bad storm since, and hope never to.

Good luck to you all on this storm season.
