friday night they had massive storms and flooding. More than 100 thousand homes have been without power since then, and aren't expected to be fixed until later this week.
I don't live there any more, but my brother and sister and all my friends live there, and I lived there for 38 years (I'm 42)
coal ship has run aground on one of the major surfing beaches, and they may not be able to move it.
We don't normally get winter storms, we have most of that in summer, and winter is usually when we have the nice weather. this is so unusual, and was so unexpected. It's the worst flooding in the area in over 40 years!!

the grounded ship
This is where I lived my whole life!!
this is the same view the next morning
My home was within walking distance of these stores. Just on the bend, where the green awning is, is where my drs office is!
I know it says the 1/1/04, but they must not have reset the date on the camera
luckily Newcastle is on the coast, so the flood waters receded quite quickly
