    Back From The Grand Canyon!

Victoria and I have just returned home from our rafting trip through the Grand Canyon. I should have some photos in a couple of days (I had to use 35mm waterproof cameras.) I'll provide a bit of travelogue with the photos, if you're interested. Let me just summarize by telling you this:
We spent 7 days and 6 nights floating down 188 miles of the Colorado River. The scenery was awesome, the rapids were cold, wet and exciting, the nights were spend outdoors in a sleeping bag, the sun was HOT!, the hikes were sometimes over scary mountain paths on the edge of a precipice, and the whole experience was unforgettable. To give you a perspective, it was like a combination of:

    Rivers Of America
    Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland
(substitute a raft for the train)
Big Thunder Mountain RailRoad (substitute a raft for the train)
    Splash Mountain
    The Submarine Lagoon
    Grizzly River Rapids

    and
    Pirates Of The Caribbean

all rolled up into one... times ten!

I'm tired, achy, bitten, burned and sore. I loved every second of it!
"Yesterday, a man walked up to me and said, 'Isn't it a shame that Walt Disney couldn't be here to see this?' and I said, "He did see this, that's why it's here."

Fun Tom! Can't wait to see the photos!
Marge: Barnacle Bill's Home Pregnancy Test? Homer, shouldn't we have gone with a better-known brand?
Homer: But Marge, this one came with a corn-cob pipe!
Marge: [reading from the test box] "Ahoy, Maties! If the water turns blue, a baby for you! If purple ye see, no baby thar be!"
Homer: So, which is it? Blue or purple?
    Marge: Pink.
    Homer: D'oh!
Marge: "If ye test should fail, to a doctor set sail!"

Wow what a great trip! I've only been to the Grand Canyon once, and that was to the south rim. It is soooo much more spectacular and beautiful than any picture! If anyone has a chance to go there I recommend it! Someday I'd like to do what you did, and see it from the inside and not just from the top!

It was an awesome experience. I'll have the pics back Tuesday. I'll try to get some scanned and online.

You're so lucky, it's such a beautiful place.
Did you see any of those cranky dinosaurs there?
    Had to ask.

We saw lots of stuff, but the only dinosaurs we saw were dropping coins into slot machines in Las Vegas.

Ahh, yes. But if it's Lava Falls, it's cold, wet, rowdy, and thrilling!
