You're dating yourself. I grew up about two miles from Legend City, just east of Papago Buttes. I think I went there like twice before it closed when I was 14 or 15. Here you go: http://www.legend-city.com/

Oh my gosh!!!!!! Memories galore here with all of this talk! I remember Legend City. Anyone remember the Ladmo Drive In ? It was a fast food joint, we never went there, but, I know that in the Ladmo bag was a coupon for it. This is so fun to chat about AZ. I live in Seattle now and it's great fun to talk about the place I spent 30 years!!!

I had forgotten all about the Ladmo Drive In until you mentioned it. I think we only got to there one time for burgers. My parents always wanted to go to Bob's Big Boy for burgers (19th Ave and Bethany location). I loved Legend City but it went downhill when it added Compton Terrace to it.

Mary Coyle's is still here although it had to move about 10 years ago so now it is on 7th avenue and Camelback but it is still owned by the original family. They still make the best homemade peach ice cream and butter brickle ice cream.

All this remembering made me pull out the picture. This is my Blue Bird Troop in April 1974. I am the one next to Wallace with the lovely hairdo.

Re: Arizona Mice Chatters

Does anyone remember the Pop Shop? Hubster has a great story about it...I guess one could save the bottles and then return them for $ when you bought new pop. Well, once, Hubster's Dad wouldn't let him go to the Pop Shop for a pop run. So, being the sweet little 4 or so year old he was, he busted all the saved bottles before they could be returned.

And he remembers the Bob's Big Boy...said his high school was at Thomas & 19th.

HA! How did you get this??? Hubster believes he was on the show probably in the fall of '74... It would be so much fun to see him.

OH! I didn't read it clearly... It's a photo. Nuts. Would be so cool to get tapes of the old shows.

I don't remember the Pop Shop.

Does ANYONE remember a place that used to be on 19th & Bethany called the "Glop Shop"??? It was a stuffed animal store and they made all of the stuffed animals. My niece and I have been researching it and can't find anything about it. We all (my nieces and nephews and I ) stuffed animals from there. It was by Baskin Robbins, behind the bowling alley.

Re: Arizona Mice Chatters

I remember the pop shop. Loved there orange soda. We have a place now that sells all types of old and hard to find sodas. http://www.popsoda.com/

I do not remember the Glop Shop but I know exactly where you are talking about by the bowling alley.

I remember a Pop Shop or something similar back in the 70's that was at about McDowell and Hayden, but I'm sure there were others. The only Bob's Big Boys I remember were at Scottsdale & McDowell (now a JB's i think) and the other at 19th Ave and Thunderbird (or somewhere around there.) I spent New Years there back when I was 13 or so with my now wife after my parents took us to see the Dark Crystal.
