I'm not sure what this has to do with Disneyland. They only mention the park to give people of idea of where this happened.

Yikes! It always blows my mind that someone could just abandon a baby . Glad the baby was found alive and hope that the woman and her family get the help they need.

Don't feel stupid, I'm just not seeing the connection. If it happened IN the resort then it'd be a story for this forum but it happened at a Denny's. They put Disneyland in the headline so it gets people's attention. The more time you're spending at MSNBC's web site they more money they make from ads.

Here is a better article that doesn't include Disneyland in the headline and only mentions the incident's proximity to the park several paragraphs into the story: http://www.ocregister.com/news/baby-...-mother-family

I hope she gets that help somewhere behind bars.

There's a safe drop off right down the street from there... over on Euclid and Cerritos. It's easily within walking distance (I only know this because my preschool would walk to the library and across the parking lot was the fire station and a little girl in my class was like "look there's a picture of a baby..." so I know that is there.).

The Disneyland Resort attracts a huge number of people which means that there is just about one of everything in the park while you and I are there.

When you are walking around DL next time, look around at the people.

I just cannot believe anyone would do this... much less a young person.

    Re: Baby Found Near Disneyland

Is this another case of the "mother" claiming that she didn't realize that she was pregnant???

Didn't she think that her b/f would notice her sudden weight loss? Or her parents? (if they even knew or realized that she was pregnant)

Or how about the blood all over her? I would have liked to hear that explanantion... (make up a story of a knife wielding madman)

Hopefully the baby will be offered up to a family that actually wants it, versus going back to the girl that tried to send it out with the daily garbage.

Yes, behind bars would be a good place for her to think about her actions.

    Re: Baby Found Near Disneyland

The girl was with her boyfriend and his family (his parents + siblings). It wasn't her family that she was with.

I'm not sure if the girl claimed she didn't know whether she was pregnant or not - I think because she's under 18, they haven't said all that much about her. But I'm just as bewildered as everyone else - how could she just return to the table and pretend like everything was normal? How long was she in the bathroom for?

In the clips they showed on the news, she was wearing a tank top and had a jacket tied around her waist. My guess is that she probably took the jacket off *after* she gave birth (to cover her pants), because I would think it would be kind of noticeable otherwise because I don't think a tank top could hide a pregnancy that well (though what do I know?).

Did you hear the twist to the story - the lady who found the baby and called 911 was the girl's boyfriend's mother!

The girl has been charged with felony child abuse and neglect, and the baby is in protective services (http://www.dailynews.com/news/ci_6399921).

And if these people visited Hollywood, Universal, or Knott's it would still be Disneyland's problem!

    Re: Baby Found Near Disneyland

I've read somewhere that these girls who abandon babies have some serious psychological problems- it's not that they're trying to kill the baby, it's that they just don't get it. Some of them think the baby was stillborn.

If they're from out of town it's likely they don't know about the safe drop-off points. She's young, so it's not something she's going to ask about.

Yes this is a sad situation with young girls, and it continues to happen.
Sometimes infants need suctioning at birth, can appear blue in color, etc., and you keep hearing these girls saying they thought they were dead. They must be in a really bad place though psychologically, I just can't imagine this...
Goin around the world...and back to Disneyland!
