Re: OK, who here is NOT a Harry Potter fan?

I like the movies, but, I've never read one of the books.

Re: OK, who here is NOT a Harry Potter fan?

I didn't bash the whole Harry Potter thing but I did poke fun at my friends who have all been Harry Potter fans since we were in middle school. I had tried to read the first book when the first movie came out and just could not get into it. I thought it was a little insane.

Finally, this year my friends were getting on me because I hadn't read any of the books and only seen one of the movies and I decided to give it another shot and I have to say, I got completely sucked into them. I read all six books in two weeks and read the seventh in a day. It was a little crazy, but a lot of fun. However, besides these books, I am not into the whole fantasy genre. I've tried other books, and these are the only I really like.

I have to agree that seeing people of all ages so excited about a book is really great. My brother has actually not been on the computer 24/7 since he began reading them. The other day he told me "I haven't been on the computer all day. I had free time so I read my book." I nearly cried.

Re: OK, who here is NOT a Harry Potter fan?

I'm sure HP is a very good series, but I'm just not interested in them. I've got enough stuff to do as it is without adding enormous books to my already backlogged reading list.

I've never seen the movies, either. No interested there, too. I completely believe everyone when they say they are good, but there's a lot of other good books and movies out there too... I'd rather get to them first.
Does anyone even bother with signatures anymore?

I'm not a Harry Potter reader. I saw the first few films, but I got bored.

Re: OK, who here is NOT a Harry Potter fan?

I'm not a huge fan... read the first couple of books, but I usually wait for the movies.

That said, Friday sucked. Too many people were waiting for the book. In fact, at the club on Friday, until about 11:00, it was only me, the staff, and a guy that hadn't been there before, and thus showed up at 5:00 (it doesn't open until 9:00!). So, most people there didn't much care for Harry Potter that night for killing a good crowd.

WOW that's a gross generalization. I've seen quite a few "rabid" younger Harry Potter fans, and actually know a 12 year old boy who is a HUGE fan - and he's not heavy set, lesbian, goth, a girl OR does he have a a job.

I'm not a fan. I've read the books, sure, but only long after they've come out and the hype has dyed down. I still don't understand half of what is going on in the books and I don't attempt to.
The movies just never held my interest, if i'm REALLY bored i'll watch it on TV, ABC Family sure airs it a lot....

They air them a lot when a book and/or movie is about to be released.

In the past month, it's been overtime as both were released within a week!

Never read one word out of one book, or seen anything more than a trailer for a movie! They do not appeal to me at all! My husband is into them with my daughter though.

I was replying more the the huge generalization of a group then what you said about them. Look around the Internet, I'm sure you'll find a bunch more

Re: OK, who here is NOT a Harry Potter fan?

I'm usually a non-fiction person myself, except when it comes to Fantasy books.

I didn't read the HP books until earlier this year because I thought they were really kids books, although I enjoyed the movies.

After reading all 6 previous books in the span of about a month (you could say I got hooked) and being a little more than 1/2 done with book 7, I can honestly say the HP series is among the greatest of fantasy book series with LOTR and Narnia.

And personally, as a father, anything that gets my kids interested in reading, is good with me.
