Re: TOUR de FRANCE TOUR de FRANCE !! Let's talk!

I got caught up yesterday with the stages I had to miss and caught tonight's exciting stage. COOL! I love the Mountains! Maybe it's because it HURTS to watch these stages - and this wasn't a big climb!

It's nice to see Lance in Yellow and rule the mountains. He is an all around great rider, but he is exceptional in the mountains. I said about Lance tonight "He's a machine!" - something I haven't said about anyone since Induráin.

Nice bittersweet highlight of the late great Marco Pantani. I wasn't aware that he had died and had to go back and look at old news footage. Such a tragedy! He was one of my favorites. I only watch the Tour, so I miss the cycling news the rest of the year.

This stupid Disneyland BD is gonna mess up my Tour style again. Damn!

Yes it truly is sad about Marco. He was so fast up AlpeD Huez in 1998 that his tires were reportedly squealing around the turns up hill. Il 'pIRATA!
Lance and HIS TEAM were fantastic again in the mountains, ONE BY ONE shelling riders to the back and dropping them. Im just amazed at Chris Horner's performance also he has really come into Physical form. Levi continues to impress.
The Time Trial should open things up AND Shake THE Overall. I know I will have to make a run by the Espn zone daily or check my cell phone for updates. Once in a lifetime!!

I've watched the Tour for years now and it just keeps getting more amazing! The SPEEDS they are riding! Those downhills that scar the CRAP out of me! WOW!

Yea they are men os steel I have gone down Sunol grade up here by the Fremont area and topped out AT 55mph. This was when I was 17. (long time ago) I was in a breakaway descending the frontage road. A Toyota 4runner just barely misses us by pulling out in front of us.[IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]
This is the same bike as Robbie McEwen rides I only have 1,149 miles on it since June (too much work). Only no team colors on the frame.

    good looking bike.

My best friend rides for Vella Bella's pro team and her hubby is a cycle cross semi pro-nut! Thier basement in SF looks like a bike shop! they are heavy into Bianchi, but ...thinking the Trek bikes in the Tour look wow.

Re: TOUR de FRANCE TOUR de FRANCE !! Let's talk!

You hit the Mountains and all of the excitement begins!

Once again, it is the decents that turn my stomach and make me cower in my chair. They can be so dangerous and they are soooo fast! I wonder if Lance will keep his yellow? There seems to be a younger, hungry pack chasing him this year - and it's not all of the usual suspects.

I can't get most of my friends to pay attention to the Tour - which is the only sport I watch, so sprots are usually not a good topic for us.

NOT good about Beltran - reportedly after they put him back on his bike, after a few km he didn't even remember he crashed today!!! He was really a big part of Discovery, and so sorry he's out. Isn't this the first time in a 3-4 years that Lances team didn't all finish?

Off to the 50th! See you in Disneyland!!! (looking for a OLN feed...)

Soo Hincapie gets a stage !! A climbing Stage!! Wow! This is highly unique!! Georgie has slimmed down alot too.

Nice to see the Discovery Boys having such a great Tour De France. Lance is up 2'46 now. Paolo Salvodelli takes a stage also! This team has decimating the field!!

Next year they will be saying to the next winner of the Tour "You won, but Lance wasn't here."
Lance has set such a high goal to reach. No one will ever win the Tour like this.

No one will ever win 7 Tours like this! I thought Lance matching Indurain at 5 was incredible. This will be beyond spectacualr is he does it. Just a few more days to go!

Oh, and one of the best moments of my Sunday was when Tic Toc told me George won a stage. WHOO HOO!

Ok, who thinks the Tour is Over? I don't until the Yellow jersey crosses the finish line, or the on kilometer to go kite!! Lance showed a power and precision at the finish two days ago I have it on video. By the way if you want to own any of the videos of the Tour Checkout this site: www.worldcyclingproductions.com.

A rider whop broke hios collar bone last year racing 5 TIMES and still raced, is Cadel Evans, ex Pro Mountain Biker for Cannondale.

Something I fear is the popularity of cycling right now, "Lance Effect" how is it going to affect the Road Bike Industry? Oh well that is for another forum and another thread.

Re: TOUR de FRANCE TOUR de FRANCE !! Let's talk!

I'm not ready to call they final Yellow - although I think Lance will probably keep it. His time trials are usually excellent. The polka dot and green are pretty tied up, I believe.

Now, 2nd, 3rd & 4th are going to be interesting. Just who WILL be on that podium with (hopefully) Lance? Basso? Rasmussen? Will Ullrich pull ahead for another time on the podium? That's the most exciting thing to watch right now.

I can't help but think about who will be in contention for the yellow next year. There have been some pretty great riders sitting in places other than first for the past 7 years. And, there are some newer guys that are really complete riders. I actually think that future tours will be more exciting for me. I like the unknown. The 5 for Indurain and the 7 for Lance were/are a bit dull for me. I like my cycling decisions to be up in the air until the very end. It keeps me on my seat.

Re: TOUR de FRANCE TOUR de FRANCE !! Let's talk!

In 2004 I got an excellent photo shot of Guiseppe Guerini climbing one of the steepest streets in S.F. "TAYLOR STREET"!
He was also the one who was knocked down by a fan taking a photo while riding to an Alpe D huez Stage!
You should got to this race it is Sanfrancisco Gran Prix.

I watched Lance and Eki, Hincapie won the race in 2001, Lance was 7th. They ride up Taylorand Fillmore Streets -world famous for being the steepest. Vino was there in 2004, Fast Freddy Rodriguez was there too. Anybody can campout at 7am and watch the womens prorace in the morning then the men.

You get a perfect view of the Bay and Alcatraz from there. Vino complained that it was the hardest in world.
