Anyone watching the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon?

I saw a little of this last night, then it was pre-empted for a number of hours, and it's been back on since this morning again. They keep cutting back and forth between Jerry Lewis in Vegas and the local news crew hosting local MDA telethon efforts.

I have to say I'm really impressed with Jerry. He looks great again and the entertainment is a lot of fun. I love that kind of old school big band type of entertainment variety show.

As I type this, they're up to a little over $38 million. Last year's total was about $61 million. I hope for the kids' sake they're able to top last year!

We've been watching it on and off here. Both my dad and brother have muscular dystrophy, watching the telethon has been a normal thing here in our house.

I haven't watched any of this years, but growing up it was always a regular thing we did on Labor Day weekend if we were home.

Yeah, I've seen him sing that song at least 25 times and it still gets to me.

The telethon is required viewing. I am watching as we speak. Jerry looks great. He does not look 81 at all. He looks fantastic.

Sometimes the awkward moments are tricky. Here in Phx, the local channel 3 guy was totally leaning on this child's wheel chair, and I wondered why no one told him about etiquette, and how that wheel chair is an extension of the individual, etc. It was weird, and this teen was totally rolling his eyes, which was funny.

I have to agree, Jerry looks AMAZING! I thought you guys were being too generous, and just saying he looked good, but wow, he looks really healthy, that is awesome.

(on a side note, I like when he yells at the production team, right now he is showing the credits of all the crew, and he is screaming for them to slow the credits, which didn't happen)

Our local "Love Network Affiliate" flubbed that moment and went to a local segment. We didn't see the credits when he showed them.

On topic: I tune in and out, and Jerry does look good.

I do hope that some of the younger MCers realize what a great and varied career he's had beyond the telethon.
