How to get to the beach?

Hello, new here. I'm wondering for those who live in SoCal if there's an easy way to get to Newport Beach, etc from Disneyland. I am traveling to Disneyland/California for the first time and would like to spend one of the afternoons we are there to see the Pacific Ocean since I never have. I was just going to rent a car since it's not that much, but was just wondering if there's any easy bus/train routes that make it easier to get there and back without me having to do the work and paying for a rental car. I'm staying at the Marriott next to the Convention Center.

Go south on Harbor Blvd. and it will take you straight to the beach.

Perhaps I should clarify because no where in my post was I asking for directions.

About half way down the this page is a brief write up about the Metrolink that runs near Disneyland (orange line). The metro link site is www.metrolinktrains.com.

My daughter lived in Anahiem for a while when she worked at the park but never paid any attention to the busses. She said there were several busses and trolleys that ran all over the place but she never used them. Your best bet is probably to contact the motel where you will be staying. They will have up to date information on available options as far as mass transit is concerned. The Marriott usually has a great concierge service that can give you information on that kind of stuff!

This is Southern California. Nobody uses public transport (except EH).

To get to Newport Beach from Disneyland either:

1) Go south on Harbor Blvd. til it ends at Newport Blvd. Turn Right and proceed south on Newport Blvd.

or

2) Take the Santa Ana Fwy (5) south to the Costa Mesa/Newport Fwy (55) south. When the 55 south ends it becomes Newport Blvd. Proceed south.

If you want to take a bus I believe the OCTA 43 will get you to Newport.
