Re: How often do you clean your house/Apt

I need my bed made. I have the best, most sensory yummy bed ever. Unmade though it looks like a mess.

Our mud room and downstairs is always pretty decent. Upstairs... okay my "room" is okay, but we are trying to organize the craft space in the loft. We knit, sew (hand sew), use modge podge/collage,bead, needlepoint, and we have instruments along with all the linens and random stuff. Also living in the mountains we have to sweep and mop a lot.

Re: How often do you clean your house/Apt

I clean when I get tired of looking at the mess. I do clean the litter boxes every few days though (gets too stinky otherwise). My place is relatively clean for the most part... just my dining room table and the bar in the kitchen tend to become "catch-alls" very quickly). My kitchen and bathroom could use a good scrubbing down though.

Re: How often do you clean your house/Apt

Every 5-6 weeks I am lucky to have the whole place clean at once. I just make sure the kitchen and bathrooms are clean at all times. On the weekends I do the rest. Jeremy vacuums about twice a week though.

It sucks because our condo is way too small for us so its ALWAYS dirty. I used to be a crazy neat freak, my friends even joked and called me Monica... I mourn my old OCD ways. It really does make me sad that I cannot keep this place up well. Its too much of a pain and too time consuming. We used to have a much more open floorplan and a bit more overall space, made it SO easy.

Its bad enough that Jeremy thinks we need to find a bigger place for several reasons .. but the number one reason is that he thinks that living here is a borderline depressant to me because after 4 years here I still cant mentally let it go. I let it get more cluttered. I have to... but it puts me in massive fits sometimes when I look around and see too much mess. Seriously.

I don't even have an ironing board. My mom took it.

So if something needs ironing, I put a towel on the table. But that's rare.

One of these days I'll remember to buy one when I'm at the store.

Bryan's mom had a room like that when he was growing up. She would carefully vacuum her way out of the room so she would know if he scampered in and left foot prints.

This reminded me of when I vacuumed for my mother once. She redid it as soon as she saw it, because I had the vacuum tracks going the wrong way..

We hang everything outside to dry (mountain air makes things smell good and it's good for the environment.). I iron the fuse bead thingys I make when I am stressed... (when I have a bad day I go for the things that made me happy as a kid. That's one of those things...), but nothing else really. I kinda' don't care if I am wrinkled... clothes wise.

yeah, I was shocked as well when I moved out. I have to be honest my mother would come and clean for me up until about 2 years ago. Cleaning is not something I enjoy doing, but i also don't enjoy when things are dirty.

It's also really good for you.
When you hang out clothes to dry, the clothes absorb vitamin D and when you where the clothes, the vitamin D (in the clothes) is absorbed through your skin.
if you iron, it destroys the vitanmin D

Re: How often do you clean your house/Apt

My house is very clean. I'm severely asthmatic so in attempt to keep all allergens down I bleach my house weekly. It really helps me so it's worth the trouble. That and I don't mind cleaning. However I never make my bed unless company is coming over. I don't see the point.

We're going through the same thing with our second bedroom! It's a total mess right now (read: we're painting a hutch that's been in the middle of the room for a week, among other things) and we really need a good "system" to help us organize everything and utilize the room. Any tips?!

Re: How often do you clean your house/Apt

I straighten up my house every night when I get home. The Grandparents are home with my kids and they make a mess and rarely clean up. I cant stand a messy house so I pick up daily (although the play room may only get a good cleanup every few days). We also have a lady that comes and does a whole house cleaning every other week. In between those visits I swiffer the floors every few days.

Little kids are messy!
