Apparently I had precision in this portion where you were supposed to draw lines between dots and it was this giant part of the test. Me as an air traffic controller? Dude...
I took that test in high school also. The results came back that there was no job suitable for me. The lady was surprised. She had never seen those results before.

I took that test in High School too. It said "nurse" or "teacher". Could they have found any more cliched jobs for a girl? How about "Stewardess" or "Secretary" while you are at it.

(Disclaimer: Nothing wrong with any of the above jobs. They just seemed so pat and obvious.)

I would have gone to college and majored in business and marketing. I also would have pursued a career in Youth Ministry a bit sooner.

Well, I certainly didn't end up doing the kind of teaching I intended to do when my career started. But I stayed in the profession, nevertheless.

I trained to become a high school choir director, but it never happened. I did middle school for a while, then elementary school classroom music, but then I found myself teaching second and third grades. Over time I turned an interest in computers and tech into an assignment as a technology resource teacher--and that was way back in 1991.

But things have continued to evolve, and the last nine years I have been a site program specialist--providing many kinds of support to the teachers at my school: general curriculum, technology, reading, English Language development, testing, peer coaching, data wizard, and all-around go-to guy when someone needs help.

    I'm still a teacher, but I haven't had a regular classroom since 1991. And I like it--a lot.

    2013: 201 rides, 8171 miles, 544 hours, 480K feet.

See! Those test are just off! I maybe precise when it comes to stuff like that, but under stress I crack. And not just crack, crack hard. Like I have been known to cry and binge eat after a stressful day. And all the jobs those test place me in are high-high-high stress jobs (like I think air traffic controller is considered the most stressful job out there)... I would be a total wreck. My mom took that test and got "dirt farmer" she was a lawyer before she retired... The only person it was right on was my dad. Every test he took said "pediatrician, chemist, pharmacist." Dad's a pharmacist.

So, my question to you is, if you had it to do over again, would you change the direction of your career? If so, what would you have done?
There are little things that I would change. My overall goals, however, would remain the same - and the crucial decisns that I've made along with them. I feal that staying the course has put me in a better position to control y destiny and realize some of my dreams than ever.

If I could go back and alter the course of my life, I would still run in to the creepy people and unfair situations that would form new barriers. Plus, some of my former enemies would likely still be around to make life hell.

So no, I've succeded in building my beach castle far enough away from the tide to keep it safe for awhile. If it gets knocked down, I have confidence in my skills to build it back again - and I have genuine and caring friends to help me.

Yes, I would have gone to medical school and pursued a career as a physician or surgeon.

    Yes and No.

I started at my company when I was 20 as a clerk. (opening mail, etc). I was planning on staying here for a year or two until something better came alone. (that was almost 13 years ago now).

For alot of years, I HATED my job. But slowly I began to work my way up. Now, I absolutely LOVE my job.

The thing I would change would be taking my current position. I hired in with a particular manager who I liked. A few months later she left, and honestly, I don't care for my current manager. I like her personally, but her management style is too micro-managing for me. My manager prior to this was very good at letting us do what we did best and not getting in the way.

Re: If you had it to do over again....

Looking back, I wish I would have gone straight to college, and got my degree in Geology (which I still plan on doing at some point). But then, I would have probably ended up an underpaid scientist traveling all the time with little time for my family.

So, I guess the answer is no, I would not change anything at this point. But then, even at 35 I realize there is still time to go back to school and learn something new and to change my career, which I will be doing next year. I am actually going to be a stay at home Mom for a while (yeah!).

DisDaddy, you are still plenty young enough to go back to school if you want to try a new career!

    A little piece of heaven

Yes, in many ways I would have wanted things different, and in some ways no.I love my job, have loved it for many years, but I would have loved to be the RN I always wanted to be. Life threw curves, but I am very happy with my life .
