Met Dame Julie Andrews Tonight

Got to meet Dame Julie Andrews (aka Mary Poppins) tonight!

Although I've met her twice before...those were just handshake/nice-to-meet-you type of things. But tonight I actually got to spend some time chatting with her. Very nice lady. Very warm and friendly. Got to meet her as part of a lecture series here in Houston. My clients here had VIP tickets to a private reception with her before her lecture and they invited me. Was very fun. Got her autograph and photo taken with her (they're going to mail the photo to me). But here's her autograph:

From what I heard about her she's really really nice. But when not un public she has the mouth of a sailor.

A little about Walt and Disney...but mostly about one of my favorite movies and one of her first films..."The Americanization of Emily."

Another Disney "connection" with this evening was the event venue itself...The Hobby Center. I was here a few years ago for its Grand Opening Gala and got my program autographed by former Disney Board Member and architect of several of Disney's Resort Hotels (including WDW's Yacht & Beach Club) and other Disney buildings...Robert A. M. Stern...who also designed The Hobby. Here's that autographed program:

I love Julie Andrews and recently almost saw her in person (saw Mrs. Potts- Angela Lansbury instead). The fact that you were able to keep your witts about you is more than I could ever do.
